HOW ARE WE PREPARING? This year we have been using a program called Springboard. This new curriculum provides rigorous instruction that will support our scholars in being successful on their upcoming EOCs, in English III, AP courses and on the SAT/ACT. We have also used Readtheory.org, a program developed to gauge and improve reading comprehension. Teachers have been conferencing with students on their EOC projected scores and goal-setting in an effort to support students in being successful. Please reach out to your scholar s teacher for information on their current reading levels and projected EOC scores.
Independent Reading Requirements The greatest way to prepare students for the upcoming ENG II EOC is to ensure that they are completing their INDEPENDENT reading tasks. Students will use Readtheory.org to increase their reading grade levels. Students will be required to complete 30 Readtheory activities by January 13th and grow 2 grade levels to receive their final independent reading log grade. Doing this will better prepare students for the assessment. Please check in with your scholar to ensure that they are completing their independent reading assignments weekly.
A Message from our School Counselor Ms. Tamara Satterfield, School Counselor *Goal Setting/Passing the English II class
