  3. LO: Understand why the symbol of the cross is associated with Easter. - Recognise and name different crosses. - Understand the different parts of the Easter story. - Explain how the crosses and stories are linked.

  4. What do you already know about Jesus and Easter? Write down or tell someone as many things as you can.

  5. What do you already know about Jesus and Easter? Christians celebrate and think about Jesus death and resurrection during Easter. Salvation is a word associated with Easter. What does it mean? The saving of a person from sin or evil.

As part of Palm Sunday celebrations, Christians now make palm crosses. It is a cross because it is the symbol that we associate with Jesus and they are made of palms because this is what the people laid down for him in the Easter story. Palm cross Sunday cross Friday cross Salvation Gospel Crucified Supper Disciples Mary Crucifix The next important part of the Easter story related to crosses was Good Friday. This was the day that Jesus died by being crucified on a cross. Christians often look at Friday crosses or crucifixes on this day to remind themselves of Jesus pain and sacrifice.
