Battle between good and evil Matthew 4 1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.2After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3The tempter Jesus faced Satan s challenge in the wilderness before he began His public ministry. Jesus 3-years of ministry on earth Jesus went around in public. And he invested most of his time in 12 disciples . Jesus compassion, authority, power, and miracles Luke 4 33In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice,34 Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are the Holy One of God! 35 Be quiet! Jesus said sternly. Come out of him! Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people.17They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. are forgiven. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.18Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.19When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and swamped.38Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, Teacher, don tyou care if we drown? Luke 9 12Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here. 13He replied, You give them something to eat. They answered, We have dead person was being carried out the only son of his mother, and she were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from 35That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, Let us go over to the other side. 36Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. What was the central theme of Jesus teaching? Read Mark 1:14-15 Mark 1 14Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.15 The time has come, he said. The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news! The central theme was: the Kingdom of God, God s rule. Jesus declared that the reign of God had come in Him (Jesus).
Responses and Expectations What were the responses people had toward Jesus? And what did the people in Jesus day expect or want from Him? Read Matthew 16:13-16 and John 6:15. some thought he was John the Baptist some thought he was one of the prophets raised from the dead some believed he was the deliverer, some did not believe some wanted to make him King Messiah, the Son of the living God. Matthew 16 13When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, Who do people say the Son of Man is? 14They replied, Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets. 15 But what about you? he asked. Who do you say I am? 16Simon Peter answered, You are the John 6 15Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.
John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me.
