JGHSL Coaches & Managers Meeting 12/1/2024
Introductory Remarks Jerry Heinen-Chairperson JGHSL Board
Objective Share information to ensure we will be prepared for the season Minimize surprises that may cause future issues Answer questions submitted in the chat function
Avario Scheduling Overview of 24/25 Scheduling Last day to adjust schedule Wed December 11thwithout JGHSL change fee Note: each District Referees have own policy on change fee Game Rescheduling Processes at jghsl.org (must be used after schedule is published for all changes for notification requirements)
Rules Review 2/3/4 Officials per Game depending on district and availability Maintain a safe environment for participants Fighting will not be tolerated - Player(s) throws a punch, officials have been instructed to assess fighting major penalties First offense - 3 game suspension Second offense - Suspended remainder of season Officials have been instructed to not intercede in an altercation unless a player(s) is in immediate danger. Game Ejection (EJ): No Fair Play Points Assessed Swearing, pushing, shoving, etc. after whistle will result in game ejections for player(s) involved PLAY HOCKEY! - any extra curriculars will result in removal of player(s) (Game Ejection-does not need to be reported)
Rules Review Three Penalty Rule: any player receiving 3 penalties in a game will be removed (Game Ejection-does not need to be reported) 2-minute minor and 10-minute misconducts count as 2 penalties Team playing a player with 3 penalties will automatically forfeit the game Player receiving a 3rdpenalty that also has a 4thpenalty from the same event results in an automatic one game suspension per USA Hockey rules Any game misconduct or match penalty needs to be reported to your local referee supervisor within 24 hours so suspensions can be verified. Failure to do so will result in a 1 game suspension to the head coach. JrGold will have 2:00 penalties, ice puck when shorthanded, use offside touch up rules Team receives 12 penalties, Head Coach suspended for 1 game Abuse of Officials
Rules Review Required Equipment: neck guard, mouth guard and ear flaps in helmets No cats eye Goalie face masks An initial team warning to one player to put neck guard on followed by a Game Ejection for any player violations after the initial warning Responsibility of players and coaches to ensure a team is compliant with equipment requirements
Game Day Home team supplies warm up & game pucks Home Team: timekeeper, GameSheet scorekeeper, home penalty box Visiting Team: visitor penalty box GameSheet iPad: Upload immediately after the game Coach's signatures: prior to game, scratches, suspensions, etc Record penalties keeping track, fair play points o 3 penalty rule player receives EJ game ejection o EJ game ejection recorded on GameSheet o EJ no fair play points assigned to EJ Record injuries, suspensions, etc. Referees will sign the GameSheet at end of game Game uploaded immediately after referees sign Fair play points allowed 16 minutes or less of penalty time Use paper Scoresheet if iPad is not available. (Transfer to GameSheet afterwards)
Team Managers Player verification/enrollment form at jghsl.org under resources League Games: 90 minute with one resurface included, no overtime Standings at jghsl.org Playdowns Feb 25-Mar 2 JGA 12 team double elimination playdown at Super Rink qualifying 8 teams to State Tournament JGB Twin Cities 24 team qualify seeded by league standings including FFP s, 3 double elimination brackets at Super Rink seeding 7 teams to State Tournament JG16 16 team qualify seeded by league standings including FPP s at Super Rink, 2 double elimination brackets sending 8 teams to State Tournament Outstate MN JGB: all teams qualify for double elimination bracket qualifying 1 team to State Tournament
SafeSport Locker Room: must be monitored Coach/Mgr or adult who has Safesport training and Background Check 95% of MN Hockey Safesport issues occur in un-monitored locker rooms Electronic Devices in Locker Room Electronic communication with Players must copy parent/guardian Social Media-Follow MN Hockey & Association Policies
GameSheet GameSheet will be used to score all JGHSL League games. All games will be scored or entered through GameSheet which will calculate points (including fair play) for standings. All games must be uploaded within 24 hours of game completion. GameSheet League iPad Key: ipad-mndjrgold Team GameSheet codes have been emailed to teams Please make sure you are following the steps to Finalize your game once it has been completed. Refs should finalize & "lock" the game and then the team manager needs to ensure it uploads to the cloud (usually the game will be live scored and finalized once the ref locks, but if for some reason there's no internet, the game won't upload until the iPad is connected to wifi again).
Game Scheduling Avario Game Scheduling 1. Confirm home and away schedule on jghsl.org. Schedule sent to referees and ice schedulers. 2. Scores, Schedule and Standings at jghsl.org 3. Game number found under schedule by JGA, JGB and JG16 Reschedule: 1. Go to jghsl.org, follow instructions on Game Reschedule Process tab 2. Avario has a Game Change process using ice schedulers and referees 3. Confirm referees with referee scheduler for officials just in case 4. Confirm details with opponent 5. Confirm fees with individual District Referee Schdulers
Fees JGHSL League Fee - $600 per team, invoices sent to Districts Twin Cities Play Down Fee per Team: JGA-$775, JGB-$1250, JG16-$1050 at Super Rink Outstate Play Down Fee per team: $1250 at Graham Rochester State Tournament - $700 per team JGA, JGB, JG16 State Tournament at Braemar Arena March 14-16 State Brackets at jghsl.org under JGA, JGB, JG16
Scholarships Scholarship details are highlighted on the MN Hockey website https://www.minnesotahockey.org/scholarships JGHSL has two scholarships based upon merit Wes Barrette Bruce Kruger MN Hockey has many multiple scholarships that JGHSL players are eligible to receive
