  1. JHS Dual Credit & Concurrent Enrollment College Courses for 2021-22

  2. Eligibility Students at Jefferson High School must meet the enrollment criteria set by Panola College as well as enrollment criteria set by Jefferson High School. Most students who enroll in a Dual Credit course are in their junior or senior year of high school. Freshmen will have the opportunity to enroll in Public Speaking and Learning Framework (required for all Freshmen) dual credit (offered online w/facilitator) if they meet the criteria for Panola College dual credit student acceptance. All enrollment criteria must be met before enrolling in Dual Credit courses. There will be no exceptions to these criteria. Enrollment criteria include all of the following: ACADEMIC: All academic course students must take the TSI ELAR and Math (subject required is dependent on course the student is taking) Passing scores for each section are Math-950 or <950 w/diagnostic 6, ELAR 945 or <945 w/diagnostic 5 & Essay 5. B 3.0 GPA required for all Panola academic courses Must have passed all current grade STAAR Exams and/or have passed all STAAR EOCs

TECHNICAL: C 2.5 GPA required for any technical course Certified Nurses Aide course through Panola Certified Nurses Aide must take all three sections of the TSI Must have passed all current grade STAAR Exams. College Other Considerations: A student must not exceed two college courses per semester within regular hours of the school day except with approval from the principal. Any student who has withdrawn from a college course this school year will only be allowed to take one dual credit course (principal approval required for two).

  4. TSI or TSI Exempt Students enrolling in English 1301 and 1302 will need to pass the ELAR portion of the TSI Students enrolling in any college math classes will need to pass the Math portion of the TSI Students enrolling in any other college courses need to pass the ELAR portion of the TSI Panola College requires students to attempt all sections of the TSI in addition to the above criteria. SOME STUDENTS MAY BE TSI EXEMPT this means they scored a composite of 23 on their ACT AND have a 19 on the English and a 19 on Math sections of the ACT

  5. TSI The TSI will be offered again on campus in May. Students can sign up with Mrs. Tracey (JHS) or Mrs. Anderson (JJHS) Take the preassessment and bring the email showing they took it with them the day of testing Arrive by 8:10am Cost of the TSI is $30 if taking both assessments or $15 per assessment ELA, Essay, and Math

  6. Cost The cost for Dual Credit courses varies depending on the college and lab fees. Most of the dual credit courses offered are 3 credit hours. A 3 hour academic course through Panola College is approximately $97.50. CNA is $582---students are required to pay $200 of this plus the cost of their uniform and supplies. (offered in Spring only) EMT is approx. $582 per semester. Students are required to pay $200 per semester. (Begins in Fall 2020-21 Seniors ONLY) Medical Terminology and Health Professions are approximately $195. Learning Framework PSYC 1100 is $65. BIOL 2401 and 2402 are $130 each. Students are required to purchase textbooks for their courses. Some textbooks are now being included as part of the student tuition. For these courses, the fee will be added to the tuition invoice we will be sending in May. This covers Fall semester only Students will register and pay again for their Spring courses. Payment for Spring will be due in early January.

  7. Payment Students will be expected to pay for half of the cost of tuition for any Panola College course up front to Jefferson High School. Students are responsible for the full cost for purchasing any required textbooks or other materials. Student portion of tuition for Panola College courses is due to Jefferson High School prior to July 30. Please make payments at the Administration Building to Rebecca Pearl. If payment is not received by the deadline, the student will be dropped from the course.

  8. What Course Should I Take? Most students enrolling in a Dual Credit course until just a few years ago had been in their junior or senior year of high school. Freshman Plan: 2021-22 Freshmen have the opportunity to enroll in Public Speaking (SPCH 1315) dual credit (offered online w/facilitator) as well as Learning Framework (EDUC 1100) for Fall 2020. In the Spring of 2021, these students will enroll in Art Appreciation (ARTS 1301) dual credit along with any course tied to their associate degree pathway if applicable. All students MUST meet the criteria for JHS dual credit student acceptance. All enrollment criteria must be met before enrolling in Dual Credit courses. There will be no exceptions to these criteria.

  9. FRESHMEN 2021-22 Freshmen will have the choice to work toward Core Complete (44 credit hours), which guarantees transfer of their college coursework in high school to any Texas state school, OR an Associate s Degree (62 credit hours). Core Complete and Associate s Degree Plans

  10. What Course Should I Take? Sophomore Plan: 2021-22 Sophomores will have the opportunity to enroll in US History (HIST 1301) dual credit and their associate degree pathway courses for Fall. In the Spring of 2022, these students will enroll in US History (HIST 1302) dual credit along with any course tied to their associate degree pathway if applicable. All students MUST meet the criteria for JHS dual credit student acceptance. All enrollment criteria must be met before enrolling in Dual Credit courses. There will be no exceptions to these criteria.

  11. What Course Should I Take? Junior Plan: 2021-22 Juniors and Seniors will either enroll in their associate degree pathway courses or they can visit with Aimee Daniel or Lynn Phillips to assess which courses will be best for them if on the core complete plan. All students MUST meet the criteria for JHS dual credit student acceptance. All enrollment criteria must be met before enrolling in Dual Credit courses. There will be no exceptions to these criteria.

  12. Registration Students were provided info on college course offerings the first week of April. Students register for their college courses on Thursday, April 14 or April 21 (make up date) They will bring home paperwork that night which will need to be signed by the parent and returned to school as soon as possible. Statements will be mailed out in May with textbook information as applicable (if the college has textbook info ready). Payment is due by July 30 or student will be dropped from the course.

  13. Associate Degree Pathways Jefferson High School currently offers Associate Degree pathways through Panola College in the following areas: Health Science Agriculture Criminal Justice Business Education STEM
