Tell me about yourself. What is your opinion about the president? When was the last time you called your mother? What experience do you have on this field of work?   12. IV. Language Focus - connectors There are two connectors you need to learn today: ALTHOUGH THEREFORE Read and write these examples on your copybook: 1. Althoughyou don t have experience on sells, I will hire you to be the shop assistant for this store. 2. There were not enough candidates. Therefore, They called me to go to the job interview tomorrow. 3. Although I hate cooking, I got a job as a cook in a near restaurant. 4. I did well in the job interview. Therefore, I got hired!

  13. IV. Language Focus - connectors ALTHOUGH THEREFORE We use ALTHOUGH to show a contradiction between two ideas. It must be at the beginning of a sentence, and the ideas are separated by comma. Although I like apples, I hate apple juice. Although the job is well payed, I will quit because I received a better offer. We use Therefore to show a result or consequence of an action. It works similar to the connector so but more advanced. you have excellent qualifications for this job. Therefore, you will get that position you wanted. There were not enough candidates. Therefore, they are still accepting applications.

  14. IV. Language Focus - Practice Re-write the sentence using therefore or although . Use the correct punctuation. Example: Lea forgot to write her phone number on the application form / the company called her anyway. 1. Correct answer: Although Lea forgot to write her phone number on the application form, the company called her anyway. Incorrect answer: Lea forgot to write her phone number on the application form. Therefore, the company called her anyway.
