Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model The Student Affairs Care Model is an integrated three component approach: Prevention, Intervention, Post-Vention. This model has been designed to support safety, health, and well- being of all students, faculty, and staff of the KapCC environment. The integrated approach is intended to strengthen intellectual, emotional, ethical, and social development which is essential to college student success.
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Prevention Intervention Post-Vention Campus Education & Awareness Title IX Behavior Intervention Team (K-BIT) Care Response Group (CRG)
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Prevention The prevention components serve to increase student s health and wellness, and to decrease the occurrence of incidents involving Students of Concern. It is designed to address KapCC challenges of improving academic success, quality of student life, and healthy lifestyles, by providing education and awareness tailored to address risk, specific to KapCC Community.
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Prevention Violence Prevention Task Force (VPTF): The primary mission of VPTF is to provide prevention education and services with the goal of creating a safer, more informed campus. The task force is made up of a collaborative effort between Instructional Faculty, Counselors, Staff, Students, Administrative Services, the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and the Staff at the UH M noa s Women Center. Sexual assault, stalking and dating violence prevention will be promoted through in-class workshops, professional training and peer education programs.
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Prevention Suicide Prevention Task Force (SPTF): The primary mission of the SPTF is to promote a public health approach to suicide prevention. The task force is made up of a collaborative effort between Instructional Faculty, Counselors, Staff, Students, Administrative Services, the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and community partners.
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Prevention Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force (SAP): The primary mission of SAP is to help students live responsibly. SAP focus is geared towards the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, legal and illegal drugs, and other substances. The task force is made up of a collaborative effort between Instructional Faculty, Counselors, Staff, Students, Administrative Services, the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and community partners.
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Intervention The interventions are designed to enhance accountability, responsibility, and change. Consistent with policies and procedures to specifically address Students of Concern
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Intervention Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Student Conduct Code Title IX: Led by the Title IX coordinator, ensures consistent application of the policy, EP 1.204, to all individuals and allows the college to respond promptly and equitably to eliminate misconduct, prevent recurrence, and address its effects.
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Intervention Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Student Conduct Code K-BIT (Kapi olani CC Behavioral Intervention Team) The BIT is a multidisciplinary group, that handles Student of Concern reports that are considered to an evaluated risk and above. The BIT conducts investigations, performs threat assessments, determines best mechanism for support, intervention, warning/ notifications and response. The provides resources both on and off campus, and coordinates follow-up with Wellness Management Group.
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Post-Vention The post-vention is designed to provide support and services which promotes academic success, quality of student life, and healthy lifestyles, by providing a learning environment that is consistent with colleges mission.
Kapiolani Community College Student Affairs Care Model Post-Vention Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Mental Health & Wellness Wellness Management Group (WMG): Is responsible for addressing emotional and social needs of the individual or groups involved in a Student of Concern situation. The CRG primary focus is to reestablish a sense of individual and group connectedness to the campus, as well as, emotional well-being through appropriate support and services.
