FY20 Budget Reduction On April 29, 2020, KDE received correspondence from the Office of State Budget Director regarding an anticipated FY20 revenue shortfall A preliminary 1% expenditure reduction plan (equates to 12.5% annually) was requested by COB May 8, 2020 SEEK and Local District Health Insurance were exempted from the KDE reduction amount FY20 reduction for KDE is $3,071,600 FY20 reduction obtained through travel restrictions and programmatic offerings being canceled or completedvirtually 2

FY21 Known and Unknown Statutorily required/limited resources Standards Development and Implementation Industry Certifications Turnaround Audits Support for CSI Schools School Report Card KY School for the Blind/Kentucky School for the Deaf Funding has stayed relatively constant since 2006 Staff at both schools are under the JCPS salary schedule Condition of campus buildings continues to require additional maintenance Staffing and operating Fewer services being provided to districts 3
