Kentucky Pride Fund Litter Abatement Kentucky Pride Fund Litter Abatement Litter Abatement Grant Program established in 2002 by HB 174 (KRS 224.43-505) KYTC transfers $5 million annually to Kentucky Pride Fund for Litter Abatement Grant ($2.5 million from KYTC Road Fund and $2.5 million from KYTC Highway Construction Contingency Fund) Distributed to counties based on road miles, total population and rural population Cities may request their portion of funding and assume responsibility for their roads 2

Kentucky Pride Fund Litter Abatement Kentucky Pride Fund Litter Abatement Grant funding is used for direct expenses associated with litter cleanup, and for litter prevention education Recipients must cleanup road mileage equivalent to all public road miles in their city or county annually Recipients must document and report all expenses annually, and return all unspent funds RLA conducts regular compliance spot-checks and audits Many recipients utilize trash for cash type programs, providing funding to youth sports teams, clubs, or other groups 3

Fishtrap Fishtrap Lake Cleanup Lake Cleanup 2015 - Large sewage leak into Big Sandy River in Virginia impacted Fishtrap Lake in Pike County, bringing attention to ongoing problem of excessive floating debris in the lake Floating material consists of woody debris intermixed with garbage, restricting use of the lake DWM has been working with Pike County since 2015 working on a solution 2018 DWM met with Pike County officials and COE and devised a cleanup plan 11
