  17. FROM TECHNICAL COUNCIL ASA School 2018, Chaska, MN Living in the Acoustic Environment, 5-6 May, 2018 An event for graduate students and early career acousticians. The focus will be on interdisciplinary aspect of acoustics as it relates to our environment. Application form will be available in November on www.acousticalsociety.org

  18. FROM TECHNICAL COUNCIL Nominating Fellows - shortage for candidates who can serve on Committees that require a Fellow status. Typically, Fellows should constitute 10-12% of TC membership (for some TCs only 5% of their members are ASA Fellows)

  19. FROM TECHNICAL COUNCIL TC on youtube!! Seeking a volunteer who would be willing to work on a video about our TC. The guidelines: Video should be about 7 min long Should target lay audience Should explain what kinds of research we are doing in very broad terms Should explain what types of career paths are available after receiving training in our area Should include brief interviews with researchers about their work The deadline for video submission will be announced.   20. FROM TECHNICAL COUNCIL From the Committee on Standards Each ASA member is eligible for receiving 5 standards free of charge per year. Skyler Jennings P&P representative to ASACOS.

FROM TECHNICAL COUNCIL Here in Boston: The number of submitted abstracts: 2205 29 sessions are livestreamed ASA is planning to continue but use a professional model mixed with some volunteer effort. The plan is to solicit industry sponsors for professional model. The fee for viewing streamed sessions will be equivalent to one-day attendance registration fee.

  22. FROM TECHNICAL COUNCIL ASA is planning to outsource financial planning to help manage funds. Carl Rosenberg Acoustical Society Foundation

  23. FROM TECHNICAL COUNCIL Marion Burgess, Sydney, Australia, presented a proposal for organizing a joint meeting of ASA and three Australian Societies with Acoustics in their title. The proposed meeting would take place in November, 2021. TC Chairs were asked to poll the TCs about the pros and cons of organizing this joint meeting and provide feedback at the Technical Council on Thursday.
