  7. Do all NIH Institutes participant on Parent FOAs? No Check for fit, before you submit!

  8. How can you tell if an opportunity allows clinical trials? Clinical trial allowability indicator in table in FOA Section II Title (most new FOAs)

  9. Can I include additional information in the appendix if I can t fit everything in my research strategy? No! Only blank data collection forms simple lists of interview questions blank informed consent/assent forms items requested in FOA

  10. Where can you find application instructions? How to Apply Application Guide Text of FOA Notices in NIH Guide Notices of Special Interest

(Almost) Yes Some processing issues may arise post-submission, but the same validation service is used by Validate Application that is used when processing an application Remember, not all requirements are systematically enforced. Read & follow instructions.

  19. Who can submit grant applications to Grants.gov? Authorized Organization Representatives (AORs)

  20. Is submitting to Grants.gov the final step in the submission process? NO! You must track your application and view your assembled application in eRA Commons. If you can t view it, we can t review it!

  21. What are the key elements of on-time submission? All registrations completed Error-free application submitted by 5:00 p.m. local time on due date All corrective submissions must be completed by the deadline

  22. What is the best unit of measure for submitting early ? Days Measure early on a calendar, not a clock!

  23. Who should check the assembled application package in eRA Commons? SO or AOR PD/PI(s) ASST (if delegated Status by PD/PI) Anyone else you can get to do it

  24. How long do applicants have to check their application image in Commons before it moves forward for further processing by NIH staff? Two (2) business days after image assembled and posted in eRA Commons Known as application viewing window

  25. Can you adjust your application after the due date if within the viewing window? (Almost) No Exceptions working with eRA Service Desk on system issue you don t care if you re considered late

  26. Who can Reject an application in Commons? Signing Official (SO)

  27. What do you do if a system issue threatens your on- time submission? Follow our Guidelines for Applicants Experiencing System Issues Notify eRA Service Desk by the due date
