Structure ASA, CSSA, SSSA contract with Torrey Advisory Group (TAG) A DC based consulting group focused in Ag and Food sectors Primary Staff people: Julie McClure Katie Naessens Caroline Sowinski Staff of 12 supporting Collaborate with Society staff on specific areas Canada? Mexico?
TSP (Technical Services Provider) Program 20 years of history Signing new MOUs (soon) ASA and SSSA will become certifying organizations in the eyes of USDA Streamlined process to become a TSP for CCAs and CPSSs CCA will have to complete one NRCS orientation webinar CCA will complete a form that outlines what they are willing to do and agree to and sign the USDA NRCS agreement All of this will be done through ASA, we will then send the approved list of CCAs to NRCS who will make it available
US Farm Bill 2023 2024 ? Currently operating under a one-year extension Talk of getting something done before year end but election is looming House, Senate D s, Senate R s versions Increase TSP Access Act language included Support for increased Ag Research funding AFRI, NIFA, AgARDA, FFAR (primary funding agencies/organization) Need something by December 31
Congressional Visits Day (CVD) 2025 February 25 and 26 Invite you and/or a CCA from your state to participate
Policy Initiatives EPA ESA herbicides and insecticides Comments reinforced CCAs as technical experts to work with growers Signed on to letter with over 100 groups Growing Climate Solutions Act Very focused on carbon/ecosystem services, and carbon markets Comments positioned CCAs as technical experts We have an opportunity to recommend CCAs, farmers, scientists to be on the advisory team that is being formed please let me know if you are interested or want to recommend you are interested or want to recommend someone before Oct 11 someone before Oct 11 Chevron deference US supreme court overturned 40 years of precedence May increase the demand for science in policy discussions/decisions please let me know if
