  1. KING CETSHWAYO DISTRICT AQUATICS STRATEGIC PLANNING 2022

Our Mission We endeavour to promote and foster all aquatic sports in the King Cetshwayo District of KwaZulu-Natal, without discrimination on the grounds of age, race, religion or political affiliation. We want to shape the future of aquatics by inspiring athletes of all ages to open their minds to various aquatic disciplines, discovering new knowledge and reconciling the needs of children through the sport.

  3. KING CETSHWAYO DISTRICT AQUATICS Overall Aim To encourage the young to be part of the sport of aquatics from learn to swim to competition level and develop well grounded aquatic athletes

KING CETSHWAYO DISTRICT AQUATICS Objectives To promote swimming at entry level by hosting LTS programmes Participation by all coaches in all areas to achieve a common goal Community based programs to introduce the sport of aquatics Close co-operation between the district and the municipality wrt LTS projects

KING CETSHWAYO DISTRICT AQUATICS Activities Objective Key Activities To promote swimming at entry level by hosting LTS programmes Joint programmes by KCDA, clubs and LTS Swim Schools Close liaison with pre-schools and primary schools Invitation to clubs and schools to attend these programmes Participation by all coaches in all areas to achieve a common goal Planned interventions that includes all coaches Incentives for coaches to promote more participation Sponsorship/bursary initiatives from coaches/clubs Community based programs to introduce the sport of Swimming Level 0 gala s at swimming pools in the rural areas. Special reference to disabled athletes from Thuthukani School in Empangeni and surrounding areas Close co-operation between the district and the municipality wrt LTS projects Municipal project whereby lifeguards do basic training at pools and introduce to clubs

KING CETSHWAYO DISTRICT AQUATICS Outputs Objective Measurable outputs To promote swimming at entry level by hosting LTS programmes Visit 5 pre and primary schools together with DSR to promote aquatics and extend invitations by 30 April 2023 Participation by all coaches in all areas to achieve a common goal Social platforms that includes all coaches sharing correspondence and planned events Coaches receiving rebates on entry fees from their own swimmers to specific social events 3 Level 0 galas by 30 April 2022 Awareness programs together with the municipality 2 sessions by 30 April 2023 Community based programs to introduce the sport of aquatics Close co-operation between the district and the municipality wrt LTS projects Lifeguards at 5 municipal pools allocated 20 swimmers per rural area to offer basic LTS classes and swimmers are introduces to the district and clubs currently till April 2023

KING CETSHWAYO DISTRICT AQUATICS Challenges and Threats Decrease in total athletes due to the national financial difficulties and cost of living The pandemic Very little if any sponsorship support Swimming has become a very expensive sport especially with more than one per swimmer family Not all coaches are prepared to offer lessons free of charge which result in low numbers of black swimmers
