LJES CURRICULUM The GATE Seminar teacher is responsible for teaching the ELA and Math CCSS and uses the same grade level curriculum as the GATE Cluster classes Seminars in Critical Literacy Reading Comprehension Writing Workshop Lucy Calkins Units Everyday Mathematics, with additional problem solving work Next Generation Science and Engineering Units Social Emotional Learning Character Strengths, Counselor Lessons/Groups
SITE ENRICHMENT CLASSES Spanish - 30 minutes weekly in class Enrichment two hours weekly Technology Art Choral Music Dance/Theater Full grade level music program in 4th and 5th grade Robotics Taught throughout the year at 3rd grade 2-4 week units at 4th and 5th grade
GATE PROGRAMS GATE Cluster: Diversity Model used in all of the La Jolla Cluster schools Each classroom is comprised of a cluster of 25% or more of GATE students Taught by a GATE certified teacher Score needed on the matrix: 121 GATE Seminar GATE Seminar qualified students, plus students who scored at a high level with teacher recommendation Taught by a GATE certified teacher Score needed on the matrix:135

ENROLLMENT INFORMATION All families must submit Intent to Enroll forms ASAP so we can configure classes TPES and BRE families must also submit an enrollment packet & sign the enrollment packet form Seminar Siblings Priority placement with Enrollment Options our District and school want to keep families together Can only enroll if space is available Often can t notify until just before school starts
