Decisions related to safety standards XXVIII/4 and XXIX/11 Decision XXVIII/4 - Establishment of regular consultations on safety standards (28 MOP, 2016) Main outcomes: A relevant TEAP task force report presented at the 39thOEWG meeting (Bangkok, July 2017) Parties submissions on their domestic safety standards UNEP/OzL.Pro.WG.1/39/INF/4, July 2017 A workshop on safety standards Bangkok, 10 July 2017 3

Decisions related to safety standards XXVIII/4 and XXIX/11 Decision XXIX/11 Safety standards (29 MOP, 2017) The Secretariat was requested to: Hold regular consultations with relevant standards bodies with a view to providing a tabular overview of safety standards for flammable low-GWP refrigerants Make the information available on its website and ensure an update of the tabular overview at least prior to each MOP up until the 34thMOP (2022) when parties should consider whether to renew that request to the Secretariat Parties were also invited to update information submitted pursuant to decision XXVIII/4 by 1 January 2020 4

Content of the tabular overview set out in decision XXIX/11 The overview shall provide concise information on the: a) Scope of activities, appliances or products covered b) Content (safety and relevant technical aspects addressed) c) Responsible standards body and subsidiary body including relevant hyperlinks d) Status of the review (process and content under review) 5

Secretariats follow up of decision XXIX/11 Consultation with international standards bodies: IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) ISO (International Standards Organization) CEN/CENELEC (European Committee for Standardization/European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc) ANSI (American National Standards Institute) ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Preparation of the requested tabular overview in 2018 for the consideration of parties at the 30thMOP the same year Preparation of a revised version for the consideration of the OEWG at its 41stmeeting in July 2019, reflecting relevant updated information 6

From the tabular overview to the online tool To facilitate parties access to updated information related to safety standards, the Secretariat developed an online tool that can be used interactively The tool is being updated continuously in consultation with the Secretariat s focal points at the international standards organizations and experts on standards The current version of the tool focuses primarily on international standards; possibility to include national standards based on parties submissions Suggestions for improvements are welcome 7
