Status Update on Service Delivery Issues in Makhanda TIMEFRAMES TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUES OUTSTANDING 15 December 2021: Completion of additional 10Ml/d: To increase production to 20ML/d between Dec 21 and Jan 22 SERVICE DELIVERY COMPLAINT OUTSTANDING ISSUES/ CHALLENGES & RESOLUTION AREA WORK DONE TO DATE WATER Inequitable distribution of Water Current production is about 10 ML/d from James Kleynhans Water Treatment Works (JKWTW), due to drought. Water transferred to all reservoirs over 33hours, hence ON and OFF. Completion of the JKWTW upgrades. Water tankering done to augment supply to the challenged areas. March 2022: 1.Refurbishment of existing Plant. To reduce production to 17,5Ml/d between Jan-Mar 2 2.Completion of Phase 2 18 June 2021: Hiring Crane Truck and procurement of cable and associated fittings. ELECTRICITY Dysfunctional street and high mast lights on identified areas Completed high mast repairs: bottom section of M-Street (1), Eluxolweni (2), New Cottages (1), Xolani (2), Joza (7), Extension 6 (3) and Extension 7 (2) Completed street lights: Raglan road, Cnr Jacob Zuma Drive and Albert Street intersection. The Top of Jacob Zuma is to be fitted with overhead cable. As the underground cable has been stolen. The top of the M-Street is also being attended to.
Status Update on Service Delivery Issues in Makhanda (cont ) SERVICE DELIVERY COMPLAINT OUTSTANDING ISSUES/ CHALLENGES & RESOLUTION TIMEFRAMES TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUES OUTSTANDING AREA WORK DONE TO DATE ROADS Taxi Routes not trafficable The pothole patching is being done, as per priority programme. Team currently busy at Albany Road. Department of Transport has assisted with cold mix asphalt: 350 bags and 2 drums of CAT65. Acquisition of more premix. Training and monitoring of tar patching teams. Ongoing Draft SLA is provided by DoT. Priority list for taxi routes is being finalised with the Taxi Industry. Finalisation of SLA Thursday 17 June 2021 Verification for prioritization between Ncame and M Street, was done by the Joint Technical Team, and submitted to ECCOGTA which suggested that prioritization was in order. Done Done M Street will be on the priority for ECDoT funding, in the MEC support for roads. Planning for Implementation To be determined, once planning has be finalised Unfair prioritization of Ncame Street over M Street The stoppage construction works in Ncame Street has been resolved with conditions. Done Done

Procurement of water basins, urinating bin and the cisterns. TIMEFRAMES TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUES OUTSTANDING 18 June 2021: Paint and basins. AREA WORK DONE TO DATE SANITATION Ablution facilities at Queens Street Taxi Rank vandalised and not operational The taxi rank toilets being fixed, cleaned and unblocked. Mobile toilets to be placed, in the interim. 9 July 2021: Cisterns and Urinator Outside tap for drinking and other purposes. Ongoing 23 June 2021: Outside tap Done and monitoring will be enhanced. Payment already done. Repairs to be completed within 2 weeks WASTE MANAGEME NT Inconsistent Refuse Collection. Dealing with illegal dumping Daily schedule is still on course. The skips available for placing in different zones. when the truck is fixed to lift the skips. Repairs of the truck The dumping site is operational in line with the NEMA Ongoing Enhance monitoring COMMUNIC ATION Poor communication strategy that does not reach all target audience The GCIS and ECCOGTA team is assisting Makana with improved communication strategy and a plan. The actual intervals are awaiting the current report to start communicating. The team is waiting for the update to start the process of communicating. The Office of the Mayor will be undertaking the responsibility of communication. Branding and distribution. Monitoring will be enhanced, to Ongoing VEHICLES Unreliable and inadequate fleet 5 bakkies have been procured and delivered for Essential Service delivery. July 2021: Delivery of a Cherry Picker
