Technical tests before the physics production run Quality verification of new (LNGS-produced) emulsion gel Depends on machine tuning, room cleanness and T&Ph Pouring quality & cleanness Emulsion quality (technical) tests before the physics run Purity and fog level check @ not exposed samples Sensitivity check: expose samples to different radiation sources (Alpha, Beta) Compare LNGS gel with one produced in Nagoya Comparative tests for emulsion exposed with/without the new cooling system LNGS 25/10/2018 5
Machine and gel production tuning Just water demonstration run after assembling First batch(es) with chemicals and checking of the basic gel parameters PH, conductivity, etc Transparency spectrometer is required Cristal size check TEM is required possibly close to LNGS Sensitivity check: Alpha exposure, development and microscope check Dust check Next batch(es) cleaning of the gelatin and pouring conditions (new) Filtering of gelatin and other chemicals if necessary Repeat all above tests and confirm the low dust condition 10 g production LNGS 25/10/2018 6
