Update on Research Community Forums Forums to be called for specific topics For example: budget-related announcements, updates on the strategic plan, external review Executive engagement strategy trial Ori sOrientation More targeted communications efforts
External Review & Strategic Plan Unity Health Toronto will undergo external review of research in the fall of 2019 Reviewers are asked to assess: The strengths and weaknesses of the Research Institute and opportunities to increase our scientific productivity, stature, reach and impact. Review of challenges identified by the leadership and recommendations on how the Institution can mitigate these challenges going forward In the context of challenges we face around sustainability, we are looking to focus our research, promote those areas where we have considerable strength and visibility. What is your assessment of our research centres/programs and where should we focus our priorities/resources? 4
External Review & Strategic Plan The two external reviewers are: Dr. Rod McInnis, Director, Lady Davis Institute, Jewish General Hospital; Canada Research Chair in Neurogenetics at McGill University; former interim President of CIHR Dr. Bev Holmes, President & CEO of the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Timelines: In person meeting of reviewers at Unity Health on Dec 10-11th 2019 Committee s report to our CEO is expected by mid-January 2020 5
External Review & Strategic Plan Immediately following external review, Research will begin a full strategic planning exercise Full strategic plan to be completed in 2020 Strategic Planning Timelines Dec 10/11 2019 In-Person External Review Meeting Jan 2020 Final Report Submitted to CEO Jan-March 2020 Develop & Obtain Approvals of a Strategic Plan Framework April 2020 Kick off Strategic Planning
