  1. LEADERSHIP MODALITIES AND LEADERSHIP BENT

  2. Leaders, must make decisions about life and ministry which flow from their understanding of who God has made them to be and for what God is shaping them. These decisions will lead them to effective purposeful lives, which in retrospect will be seen to have been focused lives. But it is not a self-seeking individualistic choice of life but a seeking of what a SOVEREIGN GOD is doing His purposes. All of the focused life thinking must be done in light of a strong understanding of the Sovereignty of God. (J. Robert Clinton, Strategic Concepts that Clarify a Focused Life, p. 1)

  3. MY QUESTION BECAME: Instead of just managing my time and schedule, how do I also manage my energy and passion?

  11. SPIRITUAL DEPRESSION

  12. 1 KINGS 19:1-9 19 Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, So may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow. 3 Then he was afraid, and he arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. 4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers.

  13. 1 KINGS 19:1-9 5 And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him and said to him, Arise and eat. 6 And he looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on hot stones and a jar of water. And he ate and drank and lay down again. 7 And the angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you. 8 And he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mount of God.

  14. 1 KINGS 19:1-9 9 There he came to a cave and lodged in it. And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said to him, What are you doing here, Elijah?

  15. Often, God doesnt ask a question to get information. He asks a question to give information.

  16. What are you doing here?

  17. Dont give into your discouragement, but pay attention to it. God may be asking you a very profound question.

  18. PRAYING THROUGH WHAT CHARLES SPURGEON CALLED THE MINISTERS FAINTING FITS

  19. 1. Is it not first that they are men?

  20. 2. Moreover, most of us are in some way or other unsound physically.

  21. 3. Our work, when earnestly undertaken, lays us open to attacks in the direction of depression.

  22. 4. Our position in the church will also conduce to this.

  23. 5. There can be little doubt that sedentary habits have a tendency to create despondency in some constitutions.

  24. 6. Before any great achievement, some measure of the same depression is very usual.

  25. 7. In the midst of a long stretch of unbroken labour, the same affliction may be looked for.

  26. 8. One crushing stroke has sometimes laid the minister very low.

  27. 9. When troubles multiply, and discouragements follow each other in long succession

  28. 10. This evil will also come upon us, we know not why

  29. Be not dismayed by soul-trouble Some Recommended Books: Ordering Your Private World by Gordon MacDonald The Emotionally Healthy Leader by Peter Scazerro Unmasking Male Depression by Archibald Hart Anything by Ed Welch
