  1. Introduction to the Good Servant

  2. Servant? A person who performs duties for others A person who is devoted to or guided by something

  3. Christian life principle? But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behaviour; because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY. 1 Peter 1:15-16

  4. Learn about God through Christ For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Colossians 1:13-15

  5. Christ came to serve! For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

  6. Christ came to serve! Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-7

  7. We learn about God from the followers of Christ Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:11

  8. We learn about God from our fathers (Priests, Deacons etc.) For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I urge you to imitate me. 1 Corinthians 4:16

  9. We can learn from each other Just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. Philippians 3:17

  10. 3 key components of service 1.Unity 2.Growth 3.Knowledge

  11. 1. Unity Many examples of Christ meeting with his disciples during His ministry. After His ascension we see the apostles continuing in unity with each other. [the apostles] with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers. Acts 1:14

  12. 1. Unity that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together. 1 Corinthians 12:25-26

  13. 2. Growth Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:2

  14. 2. Growth For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:12-14

  15. 3. Knowledge Be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:9-10

  16. We are all given something

  17. Matthew 25:14-30

  18. Reward of being a good servant Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. Matthew 25:23
