  5. Lesson 2: Nouns Now that I remember the different parts of speech. I think it s time to get to know them. Now, what are nouns? Because they have many examples, how can I easily recognize them?

  6. Lesson 2: Nouns A noun is the name of a person, place, thing, event, or even an idea. Nouns are very broad. Therefore, it is easier to understand them when they are grouped. CONCRETE NOUNS ABSTRACT NOUNS These are nouns for things that you can see or touch. They can be classified based on their quantity: singular (one) or plural (more than one). These are nouns for things that can you cannot see or touch. These are ideas, but they express meaning. Examples: Examples: love care effort leaf bird kid

SINGULAR NOUNS -a single (in quantity) noun Examples: bird tree flower mountain leaf bird PLURAL NOUNS -more than two nouns which can written by adding -s or -es Examples: birds, trees, flowers, mountains (Some irregular nouns change in form like men for man.) birds leaves

This is done for businesses such as cattle farming and paper making. Some efforts to replant trees make things worse. This happened in Chile, in South America. Big companies cut down forests for timber. They replanted in the 1970s using the wrong kinds of trees. They created tree plantations. They re not really what we imagine a forest to be, Robert Heilmayr says. These trees are more like a crop.
