Rules for Easy German (1) Basic rules on E2U also apply to the German language. German compound nouns.
Rules for Easy German (2) German: long compound nouns that can expand indefinitely. Tageskurbeitragsautomat (one-day spa tax (ticket) vending machine).
Rules for Easy German (3) Long compounds are difficult for the target groups to process. EL separate the long words with hyphens or the mediopoint. Mediopoint: Tages kurbeitrags automat.
Rules for Plain Language (1) Plain Language is not strictly normed. Translators can depart from EL and enrich the EL rulesets according to the users and the situation.
Rules for Plain Language (2) Subject of the text in an expert context with many new concepts: Syntactic structures should remain very simple. Subject of the text is very down-to-earth and well known to the readers: Syntactic structure may be a little more complex.

Rules for Plain Language (5) What is an acute middle ear infection? In the case of an acute middle ear infection, the affected person has a severe ear ache. This is because the middle ear is inflamed. The middle ear is behind the eardrum inside the ear. Persons affected by a middle ear infection often have a cold.
