LESSON 1020 THE CRY FOR DELIVERANCE
Memory Verse: Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my going Psalms 140:4 Text: Psalms 140: 1-13; 141: 1-10; 142: 1-7; 143: 1-12; 144: 1-15
Introduction Needing deliverance from the wicked? David recognised Prayer as the most effective weapon. Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee. Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice Psalms 141:1-2 David confidently crying for help because he had unwavering faith in God. Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee Psalms 143:8
1. Prayer for Deliverance and Protection Psalms 140:1-13; 141:1-10; Isaiah 26:3-4; 2 Corinthians 1:9-1; Joel 2:32; 2 Thessalonians 3:1-3 Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man; which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war Psalms 140:1-2 Do not be ignorant of the activities of the wicked, Pray to be delivered from the wicked people. Be rest assured in God to help always. Psalm 140:4,12 Daily victory over sin, self and worldly pursuit is possible for Christian youths who watch their words, thoughts, action, characters.

Prayer for Refuge and Guidance Psalms 142:1-7; 143:1-12; Isaiah 4:5-6; Proverbs 3:5-6 To overcome life challenges, intimate relationship with God and willingness to follow divine guidance is necessary. Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. Psalms 143:8,10 Christian youths need to seek God for guidance in all areas of life and endeavor to follow God s blueprint in choice of friendship, career, fellowship and relationships as the need arises.
3. Prayer of Praise Psalms 144:1-15; 18:16; 128:3; Hebrews 2:6-18; Deuteronomy 28:12,13; 33:29 Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me Psalms 144:1,2 The deliverance David enjoyed gives Christian youths assurance and affirmation that God will be faithful and always deliver His children. Just like David, other saints that experienced deliverance through praise are: Paul and Silas, Jehoshaphat with the Levites, Joshua and his army. And Moses, Esther, Daniel, Elisha and the early church experienced deliverance through prayer also.
