JAMES 3:13-18 BE PEACEMAKERS
I.A LIVING FAITH WORKS THE WORKS OF LOVE (VERSE 13) 13Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5

I.A LIVING FAITH WORKS THE WORKS OF LOVE (VERSE 13) 13Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant. Philippians 2:5-7 The only human being who ever had every right to exalt Himself as all-important chose, instead, to make nothing of Himself for our sakes.
II. A LIVING FAITH REJECTS JEALOUSY AND SELFISH AMBITION (VERSES 14-16) A. Jealousy and selfish ambition are totally rooted in sin (14-15) 14But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. James is challenging the believer who gives the appearance of serving the Lord, yet does so to his or her own glory.

II. A LIVING FAITH REJECTS JEALOUSY AND SELFISH AMBITION (VERSES 14-16) B. Jealousy and selfish ambition breed hostility toward God and one another (16) 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder* and every vile practice. * Opposition to established authority
III. A LIVING FAITH MAKES THE DETERMINED EFFORT TO BRING PEACE ON GOD S TERMS (VERSES 17-18) 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
