A comprehensive substance use education programme called LLADAT, designed for 2nd-year parents and pupils, is aimed at fostering shared dialogue around alcohol and drug use. The programme, delivered by HSE/MWRDAF staff, consists of interactive workshops tailored to the curriculum, promoting experiential learning and engagement. Parents and pupils participate in two workshops covering essential topics such as substance information, parental influence, and prevention messages. LLADAT emphasizes the harmful effects of alcohol and other drugs, highlights local services, and addresses the link between cannabis use and mental health. Through a mix of age-appropriate content and shared learning experiences, the programme aims to enhance awareness and understanding of substance misuse.
