LCP GRANT PROGRAM BACKGROUND - Round 1 completed in April 2016 $1 million total awarded to 11 local governments in January 2014 - Round 2 currently underway More than $2 million awarded to 13 local governments in November 2014 - Round 3 currently underway Approximately $2.5 million awarded to 13 local governments in August 2016 as part of $3 million total available W6F SLIDE 2

ROUND 4 GRANT PROGRAM OVERVIEW Remaining grant funds available for 4th round of the Commission s LCP grant program $546,685 available 7 applications received totaling $1,267,846 Requests ranged from $55,500 to $300,000 7 applications recommended for award totaling $546,685 W6F SLIDE 4
GRANT CONDITIONS Work Program Conditions include: Allow for sufficient time to review and revise grant deliverables and for Commission coordination Include a description of future steps to achieve certification after the grant work is completed Utilize the Commission s Sea Level Rise Policy Guidance document Perform grant work in accordance with climate change principles outlined in Safeguarding California Plan (2014) Coordinate sea level rise preparedness work with other local jurisdictions and state agencies W6F SLIDE 5
GRANT CONDITIONS Environmental Justice: All interested members of the public, including visitors and other non-residents, shall have opportunities to meaningfully engage... proactively engage those who already face disproportionate environmental burdens or vulnerabilities to environmental hazards, and/or those who come from communities of existing social inequalities including disadvantaged communities, communities of color and/or low income, communities with low capacity to adapt to climate change, and communities not in close proximity to the shoreline but who visit and recreate there. ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES 15 Round 4 would ultimately result in: SLR Planning and Policy Development in 6 local jurisdictions 3 LCP Amendments for Sea Level Rise 1 LCP Amendment for Visitor-serving Accommodations 3 LCP Updates W6F SLIDE 15
NEXT STEPS Updated work programs due by September 15, 2017 Work Programs shall include necessary benchmarks to measure progress All grant projects must conform to standard contract management requirements Grant agreements will be finalized and executed approximately two months later See Section VII (page 25) of the staff report for administrative requirements W6F SLIDE 16
