  3. What is the Council? A council: is a voluntary association of citizens representatives of organizations that are chartered by the Boy Scouts of America An organization to promote the Scouting program within a geographic area. Lodge Leadership Development

  4. Four Major Functions 1. Membership 2. Fund Development 3. Program 4. Unit Service. Lodge Leadership Development

  5. Offices and their Jobs Council Commissioner Good character and standing Abilities: 1. Organizational 2. Administrative 3. Communications 4. Leadership A member of the council Key 3, the council commissioner provides leadership to the commissioner corps in effectively serving the packs, troops, teams, ships, and crews in the council. A National Council and regional committee member Lodge Leadership Development

  6. Offices and their Jobs President Training Council/District Officers/Volunteers Stimulates and coordinates the work of the council executive board and committees. Recruits strong volunteers for council leadership Ignites their enthusiasm Welds individuals into a strong working team. Lodge Leadership Development

  7. Offices and their Jobs Scout Executive- Professional Scouter Commissioned by the Boy Scouts of America, selected by the council executive board, and serves under its direction. The council secretary for all of its council committees, although he or she may delegate this responsibility to members of the professional staff. Appoints and supervises all employees of the council, subject to the approval of the council executive board. Maintains standards in the operation, program, and administration of the council.   10. The OA helps with these HOW? Financial The finance function sees that the district provides its share of funds to the total council operating budget. The Local Lodge/Chapter is able to donate to the council and its other functions to assist in the operation. Lodge Leadership Development

  11. The OA helps with these HOW? Membership Strives for growth new Scouting units new members and adult volunteers joining existing units working to retain current membership. The Local Lodge plays a large part in this by retaining membership through activities and inducting new youth through the elections and inductions. Section can retain membership through interesting section events and fun conclaves. Lodge Leadership Development

  12. The OA helps with these HOW? Unit Participation Direct coaching and consultation for unit adults. The OA comes directly from the unit, and all youth members belong to a home unit. Through active troop participation, this can assist the OA participation as well through interest in events. Lodge Leadership Development

  13. The OA helps with these HOW? Program Helping Scouting units with camp promotion; Special activities like: community service training adult volunteers youth advancement and recognition. The OA assists in program through creating events and supporting youth programs Lodge Leadership Development

  14. Chapters in the District The individual chapters-> District The overarching Lodge structure-> Council Lodge Leadership Development

  15. District making sure the council operates properly The Council Positive atmosphere for the various districts in the council and their youth. Distracts work with the troops Within Troop and council to coordinate events and various other things such as service projects and competitions.
