  1. LONDON WELSH CENTRE COVID 19 OPERATIONS & H&S GUIDE Version 6 (Updated 01.04.21)

  2. Health & Safety Policies London Welsh Centre

  3. GENERAL The Centre has put in place a series of measures to help limit the risk of COVID-19 infection and protect the safety and wellbeing of its community of staff and users. As well as following the guidance about a safe return to the workplace, we are taking additional steps in accordance with government guidance and specifically Guidance for people who work in performing arts, including arts organisations, venue operators and participants. These measures rely on a collective responsibility to help maintain a COVID safe working environment for all. Please read the guidance below and ensure you are taking the necessary steps. Signage has been placed around the building to remind all of the general guidance and staff are encouraged to check with their line manager for any further updates.

  4. CLEANING Cleaning Cleaning is essential in preventing any bacteria and viruses from lying dormant on surfaces and equipment. Every morning before a booked hirer, we will have thorough cleaning 6-8am, provided by Atlantic Cleaning. Our periodic cleaning schedules will be constantly reviewed. What to use? Cleaning must be completed with a cleaner capable of killing SARS-CoV-2. All the sanitizers that have been provided by LWC are fit for this purpose. Hand sanitizers must be over 70% alcohol content. The product provided is Ocean Free 80% Alcohol Hand Sanitiser Rub. When to use? The LWC team will have a system in place for handwashing, and cleaning of touch points.

  5. HYGIENE & PPE Hygiene The legal requirement for hot and cold running water remains. Liquid anti-bacterial soap and means of drying: such as blue roll or paper towels. Effective and thorough handwashing is a key control, not only in restricting the spread of COVID-19 but also other bacterial contamination. Hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed on 20+ doors within the Centre, as well as foot operated dispensers in the foyer. Cleaning Equipment Using the products provided, disinfect the critical surfaces. PPE For our purposes, PPE is classed as face coverings and gloves. Face Coverings Wearing a face mask in communal areas of the buildings is advised. Change and/or wash your face covering daily.

  6. VENTILATION The law says employers must make sure there s an adequate supply of fresh air (ventilation) in enclosed areas of the workplace. This has not changed during the pandemic. The LWC does not operate mechanical ventilation. We will therefore maximise the fresh air in our spaces by natural ventilation. Relying on passive air flow through windows, doors and air vents. Why ventilation is important Adequate ventilation reduces how much virus is in the air. It helps reduce the risk from aerosol transmission, when someone breathes in small particles (aerosols) in the air after a person with the virus has been in the same enclosed area. Control measures This means that the LWC will open windows and doors (that are not fire doors) throughout our building, where possible.

  7. Covid-19 Specific Guest/Hirer/Chorister Safety Policy London Welsh Centre

  8. GUEST/HIRER/CHORISTER SAFETY POLICIES USE OF CENTRE EQUIPMENT Where it is essential for hirers/users to use equipment, they must make sure to wipe down anything used such as chairs, pianos and sound systems at the start and end of their hire, using the cleaning products provided in each room. A 6ft sneeze guard screen has been purchased for choir rehearsals, and special piano sanitizing wipes will be provided by the Centre.

We will stagger the Rota for team members to arrive at different times to avoid bottle necks around entrances. Workplace Testing The Centre staff will continue testing twice week.

Control measures Lone workers: Must text and/or call a colleague to confirm that they have entered and vacated the premises safely; Must be fully competent with the Centre s emergency procedures; Should use the benefit of the secure door entry system; Have the right to refuse access to any member of the public via the door entry system; Should contact their line manager if they have concerns over security whilst on shift; Must have valid First Aid and Fire Safety Training; Should not work at heights to prevent slips, trips and falls.
