Lt Governor Presentation Overview of Foundation and benefits to Clubs and Members Seek support for Foundation programs and activities
Established by KAD February 2013 Not-for-Profit public ancillary fund for public charitable purposes Company limited by guarantee Trust Deed and Constitution registered with ATO and ASIC ATO endorsed as - Discretionary Investment Trust; Deductible Tax recipient (DGR); and Income Tax Exempt Fund Must meet Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) and ASIC governance requirements
Foundation Purposes Provide or apply money or benefits to KAD or Foundation approved Eligible Projects for Eligible Entities where: Eligible Projects are consistent with Kiwanis International Objects and approved by KAD Board Eligible Entities are charitable at law and an ATO approved tax Deductible Gift Recipient operating in Australia
Governance operates as a company alongside KAD with five Directors (all active Kiwanians who satisfy ATO requirements) Foundation receives donations in two bank accounts: Eligible Projects Fund - Club donations Gift Fund - tax deductible public, corporate and individual Kiwanis member donations statutory reporting requirements (ATO, ASIC, ACNC) and two- way liaison with KAD 100% value of donations as all administrative expenses met by KAD
Fund Raising 2015/16 involves investment earnings from various programs including: KAD $10,000 grant Voluntary Annual Club Gift Program 4 KAD Approved Recognition Programs (implementation progressing) Club and member, public and corporate donations Bequests Where funds held in perpetuity and Investment only earnings used for future grant making purposes

Benefits to Clubs Potential to assist Clubs fund raising from individual Club members, public and corporate for both current and future new Eligible Projects for Eligible Entities developed by Clubs where: Projects are consistent with Kiwanis International Objects and approved by KAD Entities are charitable at law and an ATO approved tax Deductible Gift Recipient operating in Australia Approved projects attract income tax deductions - assists to:
Benefits to Clubs Increase awareness of Kiwanis in your local community and service projects May offer opportunities for membership growth Promote belonging to reputable global organisation of volunteers supporting national and local programs Source external funding for approved new projects Increase publicity of new Club projects in Australian Kiwanian sharing your experiences with other Kiwanians and the public Offer point of reference benefits to social media users to prospective donors such as Mothers Day MNT Appeal
Foundation Assistance to Clubs assist Club verify that new Eligible Project satisfies statutory and KAD requirements receive project donations from Club or donors and issue receipts to all donors record donations for each approved Club project in Foundation accounts release accumulated funds to the approved recipient in accordance with Club requirements make future Grants to Clubs for agreed Projects
Club Assistance to Foundation Continue to provide ongoing donations for the HeartKids Grants-in-Aid program Make voluntary Annual Club gift to the Foundation for investment purposes only Support District s new Recognition Programs
Voluntary Annual Club Gift Program District Convention delegates (2014 & 2015) supported this program (based on $10 per member) where: Gift funds would be invested and held in perpetuity and Investment earnings used for future Foundation grant making District supports and recommends this program to Clubs and members Will your Clubs support the Australian Kiwanis Foundation by making a voluntary Annual Gift?
Kiwanis Australia Foundation Fellowship New District Recognition Program Appreciation by Kiwanis Clubs and members to non-Kiwanis individuals, corporations or businesses who support Club s activities Recipient receives Certificate of recognition Donation to Foundation - $200 Funds held for investment for grants Details in brochure
Memorial Fellowship New District Recognition Program A Way to Say, We ll Always Remember .. a deceased Kiwanian Donations to Foundation - Club Donor - minimum $250 Other donors - discretionary amount Funds held for investment for grants Details in brochure
