Main Injector Recycler Phil Adamson Friday 0900 4thNovember 2016 Joseph Rotblat 1908 - 2005
Main Injector Start-Up Plan: Friday MI8 access to replace bellows Test fast MI ramp Possibly beam Friday evening (before 19:08) Establish orbits (8 GeV through 120 GeV) Saturday Low intensity tuning to MI dump Sunday Continue tuning, Win World Series Three days behind schedule 2 Denton Morris | MI/RR Shutdown 2016
Main Injector Status Vacuum leaks at Q504 and 838 collimator fixed Beam established and delivered to NuMI for horn scans Two quad moves calculated (moved yesterday) Could establish slow extraction today Support Numi horn / target scans, prepare for high intensity Nuisance MECAR glitches (permit drops) on startup Related to new ADC board installed during shutdown Old board reinstalled / new board being worked on 3 Phil Adamson | Friday Meeeting 11/4/2016
Main Injector Status Access yesterday Quad moves SEY measurement Found compression joint leaking near Q126 fixed Small leak on 230-2 dipole: will evaluate Leak on MIRF15 patched Fixed problems with loss monitors 4 Phil Adamson | Friday Meeeting 11/4/2016
Recycler Status Beam established and circulated ~2 weeks of commissioning studies and vacuum scrubbing Access yesterday Removed angle injection kicker load Fixed polarity of R:V613 and R:H614 Fixed primary collimator motion system Fixed shorts and opens on new ion pumps Fixed broken connectors on BPMs Currently R:VP601 still has a surprising 14mm offset Found LCW pressing on G617A magnet stand: fixed 5 Phil Adamson | Friday Meeeting 11/4/2016
Plans Main Injector Establish slow extraction Provide beam for NuMI scans Prepare for high intensity operation Still need a little flattop orbit tweaking Recycler Continue measurements of machine Increase intensity, begin vacuum scrubbing (over weekend?) Lattice & e-cloud studies R:LAM30 PS trips: overshoot on turn-on Reboot for code fix Will be requesting access to turn on water to 2.5 MHz cavities when ready 6 Phil Adamson | Friday Meeeting 11/4/2016
Remember, Remember 7 Phil Adamson | Friday Meeeting 11/4/2016
