When it comes to your sight, what is or has been most helpful to you in maintaining good vision?
Being deprived of one of your senses can often increase your other senses.
Mark 8 22They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.23He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, Do you see anything? 24He looked up and said, I see people; they look like trees walking around. 25Once more Jesus put his hands on the man s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.26Jesus sent him home, saying, Don t even go into the village.
Matthew 11 & Luke 10 Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
THE CONDITION Blindness then & now.
SPIRITUAL BLINDNESSISAIAH 59 9 So justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We look for light, but all is darkness; for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows. 10Like the blind we grope along the wall, feeling our way like people without eyes. At midday we stumble as if it were twilight; among the strong, we are like the dead.
MESSIANIC ANTICIPATIONISAIAH 35:4-6 4Say to those with fearful hearts, Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you. 5Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. 6Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
THE PEOPLE: FRIENDS The blind man saw the love of genuine friends. Mark 8:22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
