  2. SOME COMMON ISSUES AND DISCOMFORTS THAT OCCUR WHEN WORKING FROM HOME 1. Neck discomfort 2. Back discomfort 3. Forearm/wrist/hand discomfort or numbness 4. Eye strain 5. General fatigue WHAT CAN WE DO TO PREVENT THIS? Breaks Routine Workspace Posture Use a dedicated workspace Work in neutral postures Remember to take breaks Find a routine that works for you

  3. Use a Dedicated Workspace Avoid working from the couch or bed. Use a table/desk and chair. Find a chair with back support. Raise the screen up closer to eye level using a stack of books or a sturdy box. Keep the keyboard and mouse close to your body so you don t have to excessively reach. Ensure sufficient lighting and take advantage of natural lighting if possible. Choose a location that minimizes distraction and noise. If possible, rotate between sitting and standing.

  4. Working in Neutral Postures Working in neutral postures decreases the negative effects of prolonged sitting or standing at a desk. Avoid sustained or repeated neck rotation, flexion, and extension. Keep your arms close to body and shoulders relaxed. Keep your wrists straight - avoid bending wrists. Keep your elbows at approximate 90 degree angles. Keep your hips and knees at approximate 90 degree angles when sitting. Keep your feet planted firmly on the floor or footrest.

  5. Remember to take breaks Taking short breaks every 20-30 minutes is shown to boost productivity. Breaks are important for your physical and mental well-being by allowing you to stretch, regain motivation, and boost creativity. Do some simple stretches during your break to loosen up your body.   6. Find a Routine that Works for You Make a schedule and follow a routine that includes regular breaks. Start your day getting ready. Brush your teeth and change your clothes - even if they are just sweats. Work off a daily to-do list of reasonable expectations and goals. Take a real lunch break. Choose a time to stop working for the day and try to stick to it!
