  4. WP2: Trypanocide resistance The high genetic diversity of T. congolense renders the identification of specific genes linked to ISM resistance difficult. New techniques were implemented and tested. Will be presented in detail Developing a molecular tool for diagnosing easily and quickly ISM resistance might not be possible within the framework of this project.

  5. WP2: Trypanocide resistance Dr Tchamdja trained at CIRDES Dr Tekle will be trained at UP LACOMEV and TFDA active in Senegal/Tanzania for drug quality testing (collaboration FAO and Galvmed) Done for Togo and Ethiopia Funds were made available by GALVmed for Mozambique Inter-laboratory testing TFDA - LACOMEV

  6. WP 3: Cross-sectional surveys and identification of hot-spots Finalized in Togo and Ethiopia. Mozambique: a new protocol is presently drafted by ITM/EMU to finalize WP3 and WP4 within year 4 in parallel with entomological surveys. This new protocol should allow a proper impact evaluation by LUH at the level of small scale and commercial farmers (?) to be discussed.

  7. WP 3: Cross-sectional surveys and identification of hot-spots The main activities planned for year 3 were: (i) the block treatment in the hot-spot areas in Zambezia province; (ii) the entomological survey; (iii) the stakeholders meeting; and (iv) the best bet strategies implementation.

  8. WP 3: Cross-sectional surveys and identification of hot-spots Activities (i) and (ii) were finalized and activities (iii) and (iv) were postponed to year 4 due to the unusual heavy rainfall that occurred in November in Zambezia province. In July the FUB team (Dr A. Hoppenheit and Dr B. Bauer) conducted a fact finding mission in the study area

  9. WP4: Delivery systems to support control strategies WP4 is fully implemented in Togo, On-going in Ethiopia and Launched in Mozambique. Impact assessment will only be fully optimal in Togo, some clear quantification should be possible in the two last countries to be discussed with LUH.

  10. WP5: Delivery systems to support control strategies Dr Haret HAMBE who has taken over from Dr Cyrille PISSANG in early 2014 has left VSF-B in September 2014. 12. WP6: Impact assessment LUH (WP6) offers the partners to question the database of the baseline surveys according to the specific context of each Institution. No specific activities were conducted during this period as the impact assessment deals with the starting and ending points of the project as established in the Description of the action . One mission was
