BOM TRANSFORMATION WORKING GROUP: ACCOUNTABILITY MAP Jean-Claude Niyonkuru
MANUFACTURING CONTEXT OR COLLECTION OR BRACKET It s a one of the way to break a complex structure into cohesive chunks from which manufacturing planning can be executed. Those chunks of product usually don t have a representation of single nodes in the different product structures used when planning the manufacturing of the product Manufacturing context is going to be used for the following purpose: Allow an accountability on the chunk level Allow all the planning stakeholders to collaborate on a small part of the product Performance in large structure 3

FEEDBACK 15
EXAMPLE OF ALT OR BOM TYPE USAGE May need to have sales BOM type different from production BOM Use case where you manufacture and repair the same Part in the same Plant. There maybe a need to have alternate BOM to differentiate different way of building the same part at the same plant The planning strategy will decide ahead of time which BOM to use at particular instance on the shopfloor. 16
The BOM Type and Alt may not be well understood It may depend on the type of ERP used It may be also that the need is there but in the pass this was not there in Windchill 17
ENHANCEMENT It s difficult and confusing to understand what else is out there it should be good to have the equivalent part links OOTB. For casual user it maybe cumbersome to go in MAPSB. Editing of Plant data from Detail Page of Part for View Specific Data and Functional data PTC should invest in educating implementation support company like Accenture and also find a way to improve training on MPMLink. Current documentation is still discussing old 18
