Goals BUILD A BIG TENT Demonstrate the connection between art/design and other creative endeavors such as technology innovation, entrepreneurship, scientific and medical research, fashion, culinary arts, and the maker movement UNDERSTAND TRENDS Capture key new trends influencing creative work -- such as co-work spaces, crowd-sourced funding like Kickstarter, and the ability for creators to self-publish their work CONVERSE Stimulate a robust national conversation about creativity that highlights the role of art and design in the creative economy and life of the country INFORM DECISIONS Provide a context in which government, business, philanthropy, investors, universities and workers make decisions that influence their creative future -- and ours SPOTLIGHT THE BRIGHT SPOTS Share leading examples of nonprofits, businesses, universities and others who make up the creative ecosystem 3

  5. Cooperator Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI) is a national leader in assessing and building support systems for the arts. Founded in 2001, CCI promotes knowledge sharing, networking, and financial independence for arts providers and creative entrepreneurs by providing business training and grants as well as incubating innovative projects that create new program knowledge, tools, and practices for artists in the field. 5
