Life Challenges of the Women Served HEADLINE GOES HERE Text goes here Text goes here Text goes here Text goes here Guatemala has a very young population (56% below age 25) and one of the highest fertility rates (3.1 children per woman) in the region, placing unprecedented pressure on the economy and resources, resulting in more people living in poverty.

About the Featured Grantee WINGS was established by Sue Patterson, a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer based in Guatemala, who in 1999 HEADLINE GOES HERE began mobilizing resources for Guatemalan women unable to afford voluntary tubal ligations. Text goes here Text goes here Text goes here Text goes here Since then, WINGS has promoted leadership among women and youth, culturally appropriate services, and sustainable change through education and access to contraceptive methods.

  9. What are we supporting? Expansion of reproductive health services to three hard-to-reach departments in Guatemala: Huehuetenago Quetzaltenago, and San Marcos. Mobile units will provide long-acting reversible contraception, short-acting contraceptives, and rapid cervical screening and treatment.
