Commas Where there is a comma in a sentence we need to take a pause. ,
Practice Read the following sentences. Check that you have noted all the punctuation before you read . How hard can it be, I thought? Kate Mansey, journalist with the Journal explained, I thought stand up comedy would be easy.
A few days before the show, I tried out my jokes on some willing friends. Not a giggle, not a titter, came form their lips! So on Friday night, the day of my performance, I expected stony silence from the crowds.
