Weighing Speech Elementary Debate
What is the weighing speech? What is the weighing speech? After the 1 2 3 4 pro and con speak and the last question and answer is done Each speaker presents why they think their side won for 45 seconds
What reasons can you give? What reasons can you give? Matters more More likely Better supported.
Matters More Matters More If your side saves more lives versus a slight price increase you should say saving lives is more important than a price increase If your side shows kids learn more and grow as people, say that is more important than a few kids damaging their phones which can be replaced.
More Likely More Likely If you show your side is more likely to save lives or to better learning, then explain why If your opponent s arguments aren t that likely to happen, say your side s benefits are more likely.
Better Supported Better Supported If your side s arguments are supported by strong studies and experts versus just opinions for the other side s arguments say so.
Make your Weigh Speech Great Make your Weigh Speech Great Be listening to the other weighing speeches You can respond to them You can make yours a bit different from your partners Above all, be persuasive!
