  2. What is a Volunteer Definition of a volunteer : A person who offers to do charitable or helpful work without pay Expectation of our volunteers......... COMMITMENT

  3. Our philosophy We believe that all women, regardless of age, ethnicity or social background should have the opportunity to have a positive birth experience and encouragement around breastfeeding. For many who are in a stable relationship or have mothers(or grandmothers) upon whom to rely, it is easy to underestimate the importance of having someone alongside. Sadly, for some, pregnancy can be a very lonely and difficult time.

  4. WHAT ARE DOULAS? Doula is a Greek word referring to an experienced woman who helps other women through pregnancy and childbirth. She offers no clinical skills and does not perform any medical tasks or gives medical advice Her sole function is to give continuous emotional and physical support, and facilitate communication between the woman, her partner and other professionals A doula should have no agenda and no judgement (McMahon, 2015)

  5. The Benefits Antenatal : someone to attend antenatal classes, attend hospital appointments, discuss birth plan, signpost to other agencies. Through birth : positions, relaxation, assist in communication, focus, strength, inspiration a hand to hold! Research suggests that a reduced risk of medical intervention, speedier recovery, reduction in post natal depression for mum.
