  2. Purpose of the session: Purpose of the session: A discussion based session to maximise input from colleagues on the development of the blog To consider the potential to develop a UCET Teacher Education Blog to give colleagues in the field of teacher education the opportunity to share ideas and expertise, reflecting the principles behind the UCET document 'Intellectual Base of Teacher Education Report' and the UCET Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

  3. Intellectual Base of Teacher Education report Intellectual Base of Teacher Education report A few key ideas from the report: UCET recognises that teaching is a challenging, complex, intellectual and ethical endeavour High quality teacher education draws on a corpus of knowledge embedded in ethical practice, including robust evidence from research, whilst accepting that knowledge is both contested and contestable Teacher education can cultivate [such] collegiality through strong professional collaboration amongst all partners. Such collaboration is characterised by shared intellectual responsibility bringing together complementary forms of knowledge and experience. UCET values teacher education that works within a model of professional collaboration to produce teachers who are competent and confident professionals, epistemic agents, able to engage in enquiry-rich practice, responsible professionals

  4. And from the UCET Strategic Plan 2020 And from the UCET Strategic Plan 2020 2025 2025 Supporting UCET members, and those they work with, to design and provide teacher education programmes that have a positive impact on learners, in a way that is consistent with UCET s values and principles, through the sharing of information, promulgating and championing relevant research and providing networking opportunities. The teacher education sector should be receptive to challenge and debate and to a diverse range of approaches and structures. The design and provision of teacher education should be informed by high quality research of regional, national and international significance. https://www.ucet.ac.uk/mission
