  3. I. THE PROMISE OF PEACE John 14:25-29 ICB 25 I have told you all these things while I am with you. 26But the Helper will teach you everything. He will cause you to remember all the things I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name. 27 I leave you peace. My peace I give you. I do not give it to you as the world does. So don t let your hearts be troubled. Don t be afraid. 28You heard me say to you, I am going, but I am coming back to you. If you loved me, you should be happy that I am going back to the Father because he is greater than I am. 29I have told you this now, before it happens. Then when it happens, you will believe.

  4. II. THE MESSAGE OF PEACE John 20:19-22 ICB 19It was the first day of the week. That evening Jesus followers were together. The doors were locked, because they were afraid of the Jews. Then Jesus came and stood among them. He said, Peace be with you! 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. His followers were very happy when they saw the Lord. 21Then Jesus said again, Peace be with you! As the Father sent me, I now send you. 22After he said this, he breathed on them and said, Receive the Holy Spirit.

  6. III. THE LIFESTYLE OF PEACE A. Kingdom Living Romans 14:16-17 ICB 16Do not allow what you think is good to become what others say is evil. 17In the kingdom of God, eating and drinking are not important. The important things are living right with God, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

  7. III. THE LIFESTYLE OF PEACE B. Spirit-Led Living Romans 8:5-6 ICB 5Those who live following their sinful selves think only about things that their sinful selves want. But those who live following the Spirit are thinking about the things that the Spirit wants them to do. 6If a person s thinking is controlled by his sinful self, then there is death. But if his thinking is controlled by the Spirit, then there is life and peace.

  8. III. THE LIFESTYLE OF PEACE C. Living in Contagious Peace 2 Corinthians 5:16:21 ICB 16From this time on we do not think of anyone as the world does. It is true that in the past we thought of Christ as the world thinks. But we no longer think of him in that way. 17If anyone belongs to Christ, then he is made new. The old things have gone; everything is made new! 18All this is from God. Through Christ, God made peace between us and himself. And God gave us the work of bringing everyone into peace with him.

  9. III. THE LIFESTYLE OF PEACE C. Living in Contagious Peace 2 Corinthians 5:16:21 ICB 19I mean that God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself. In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of its sins. And he gave us this message of peace. 20So we have been sent to speak for Christ. It is as if God is calling to you through us. We speak for Christ when we beg you to be at peace with God. 21Christ had no sin. But God made him become sin. God did this for us so that in Christ we could become right with God.
