#PublicValue 4 Authorising Environment Where to look: Government, Ministers Children and young people, survivors of abuse, parents/carers, regulated organisations, general public, media Inquiries. 2013 - Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry - Betrayal of Trust: Inquiry into the Handling of Child Abuse by Religious and Other Non-Government Organisations 2017 - Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse Both recommended independent oversight and monitoring to improve child safety systems and the handling of allegations of child abuse.
#PublicValue 5 Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse The Final Report contains 3,955 narratives based on survivors' personal experiences of child sexual abuse. Through the work of the Royal Commission, the Australian public has learnt about the multiple and persistent failings of institutions to keep children safe, the cultures of secrecy and cover-up, and the devastating effects child sexual abuse can have on an individual's life. We have now completed our work. It's up to governments and institutions to take the next steps and implement the Royal Commission's recommendations."

10 #PublicValue Where do you start? New regulators have a lot to do .you have to pace yourself. Start, and then expand: Small regulators usually have fewer resources to dedicate to measurement than larger regulators or departments. Do what you can and add over time. Learn what success looks like - identify the wins, and the losses, to build up an understanding of what s possible Add to data collection over time add or change over as you learn more KPIs publish as you establish them. See this as important to building trust Commit to a culture of reporting and measurement as well as learning, adaption and improvement Keep connecting with your public value we deliver outcomes for people, not numbers on a page
