It involves recognizing which areas they need to work on, both personally and professionally, setting goals in those areas, and (ultimately) reaching those goals.

Basically this translates to thinking about the different areas of your personal and professional life. Reflecting is the first step towards identifying your individual learning needs

Your goal is to build a high quality portfolio which gives the best account of your personal and professional development. You should aim to discuss your e-Portfolio with your personal tutor on at least an annual basis.

The Portfolio will be used as a tool to record your progress and achievements in PPD, and encourage you to reflect and build upon your personal and professional development through the under- graduate medical course. The Portfolio can be also used: as an assessment tool as a record of achievement held by students for their own use as evidence for continuous professional development
