CHALLENGES & STRATEGY Challenges : Very high global demand for medical supplies Required medical supplies are largely imported No production facility for PPEs/N-95 and small production facility for ventilators and testing kits Strategy : Mandate to see this an opportunity to create supply chains and manufacturing within India by Helping existing manufacturers to expand Identifying new manufacturers Hand holding and facilitating Teams of officers, engineers & scientists deployed Imports only if absolutely necessary to meet timelines 3
VENTILATORS Available : 19,398 Total Demand: 75,000 Ordered: 60,884 Ordered to Domestic Mfg.: 59,884 Make in India - Identified new manufacturers, did handholding to 7 manufacturers BEL + Skanray : 30,000 Maruti Suzuki + AgVa : 10,000 AMTZ (AP Medtech Zone) : 13,500 4
VENTILATORS Handholding & Facilitation - Helped in logistics, creating new supply chains and guided them to meet specifications Training & Installation Training and other protocols issued by MoHFW Logistic issues for installation worked out by MoH&FW with Suppliers and State Governments Consumables - Arranged. To be procured by Hospitals from suppliers as and when required Testing of first lot of ventilators by 4 mfrs. going on Will meet demand of the states as required 5
OXYGEN AND OXYGEN CYLINDERS Enough oxygen production in India Enough oxygen cylinders Current Status Total manufacturing capacity of oxygen is 6,400 MTs of which around 1000 MT is used for medical oxygen 5 big and 600 small manufacturers of oxygen No. of hospitals with own oxygen generation : 409 No of Cryogenic tankers available around : 1050 6
OXYGEN AND OXYGEN CYLINDERS Existing Supply - No. of medical oxygen cylinders available for supply : 4.38 lakh. New Orders - Quantity of new medical oxygen cylinders for which orders placed : 1,03,000 Conversion of Industrial Oxygen into Medical Oxygen : 60,000 ordered for conversion as required More than 5 lakh industrial oxygen cylinders identified for conversion if required 7
PPE Projected Demand: 2.01 Crore Total Ordered: 2.22 Crore Domestic Orders : 1.42 Crore Domestic Prod/ Day : 1.87 lakh Make In India (earlier no manufacturers, all imports) Now 107 domestic manufacturers : More manufacturers in line Domestic manufacturing (on 30.4.20): 1.87 lakh Received : Additional domestic supply in next 2 months : 1.15 Crore Import : 80 lakh 1.43 Crore 17.37 lakh Open Tenders : Orders are placed to Indian Manufacturers with approved specifications as and when their offers are received 8

Material Testing Labs: Earlier only SITRA (South India Textile Research Association), Coimbatore , 9 new labs added: INMAS- Institute of Nuclear Medicines and Allied Sciences, Delhi DRDE- Defence Research and Development Establishment, Gwalior ADRDE- Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment, Agra 6 labs of Ordinance Factory Board at Chennai, Mumbai, Muradnagar, Kolkata and Kanpur (2) Special arrangements to fly/transport sample material/product to these labs New Technology: DRDO developed 3 types of new PU coated nylon/ polyester and technology transfer to manufacturers of India. Open Tenders : Orders are placed to Indian Manufacturers with approved specifications as and when their offers are received 9

Domestic manufacturing on 30.4.20 : 2.30 lakh Received : 49.12 lakh Additional domestic supply in next 2 months : Import : 1 Crore 1.40 Crore Efforts are on to include more labs through QCI Open Tenders : Orders are placed to Indian Manufacturers with approved specifications as and when their offers are received 11

Continuous interaction with manufacturers, distributers and pharmacies States also monitoring and facilitating the industry HCQ Production has increased from 12.23 Crore to 30 crore per month Released 9 crores tablets of HCQ in market against required 2.5 Crore Centre supplying to States as per the demand 14
