  2. MHA of Dutchess County was incorporated in 1954 by members of the community. First known as the Dutchess County Society for Mental Health and then Mental Health Association in Dutchess County, we have evolved and grown through the years to meet the needs of the community. Our main location is 253 Mansion Street in the city of Poughkeepsie. We also have program locations in Beacon, Dover Plains, and Hyde Park. Our mission is: To make the Hudson Valley a place where anyone can get access to the full spectrum of mental health and addiction services they need, without jumping through unnecessary hoops.   3. Mid-Hudson Addiction Recovery Centers [MARC] merged with MHA of Dutchess in September 2021. David Campanaro, LCSW-R, CASAC, Division Director, 473- 2500 ext. 4001 Three community residences provide counseling, life skills, a sober support network, coping skills, vocational assistance, parenting classes, and much more.   4. Adult Services Care Management is for adults who have either one mental health diagnosis, two or more chronic medical conditions, and/or substance abuse challenges. It provides a single point of access to manage all care providers, help assess areas where help is needed and provides the care and resources. A referral from any treatment provider, including a family physician is required and can be found on our website. Contact Kathy Gallagher at ext. 3075. The Living Room at Mel s Place is a day program for homeless individuals with addiction and/or mental health issues that offers food, company, and a safe-place to stay. Referrals for housing and employment are available. Assistance with benefits, obtaining a birth certificate, and use of facility for mail and laundry is available. Contact: Tracy Edmonstone, 845-473-5166 PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services) is a day program in Beacon that is for adults with Severe Persistent Mental Illness who wish to become more independent and comfortable in the community. Participants can build their schedule from classes in coping skills, wellness, Dialectal Behavior Therapy skills, benefits and budgeting, anger management, conflict resolution, advocacy, etc. PROS also offers vocational and clinical services for participants who are engaged in the program. Accepts Medicaid Managed Care through Medicaid. Referral form and medical information from provider required; contact Nicole Peace at ext. 1205 Supportive Housing provides young adults supported housing beds; SPOA through care manager required. Mobile Crisis Team is a 24/7 crisis response for children, youth and adults in Dutchess County. It is designed to reduce emergency room visits and inpatient hospitalizations while maintaining people safely in the community. Call or Text the DC Helpline at 845-485- 9700. Jessica Madden, Director. E.C.H.O. ( Enhancing Community Health thru Outreach ) is a program that allows a BHS (Behavioral Health Specialist) to be imbedded into our local law enforcement agencies. The goal is to help decrease recidivism and alleviate calls for mental health individuals. The BHS along with law enforcement will respond to calls for pickup orders, suicidal ideations/attempts, community outreach, aggressive individuals, walk-ins, welfare checks, intoxication, substance abuse, a variety of other calls and especially those in need of mental health services.

  5. Childrens Health Home Care Management Provides Care Management services to Dutchess County children, ages 0-20 with active Medicaid. Child must have on serious emotional disturbance/mental health diagnosis or two chronic conditions. Chronic conditions can include medical conditions such as asthma or diabetes. A care manager will work with the child/family to help coordinate services, navigate community systems and supports, provide advocacy, and identify and link to helpful resources. Care managers can help access/maintain clinical providers, provide educational advocacy with school districts, link to vocational, social and community supports, help to coordinate benefits, and more.   6. Family Support, Advocacy & Education Family Support, Advocacy and Education offers supportive services for families affected by mental illness in one or more of their family members. Programming is strength-based, trauma-informed, and family-driven with interventions based on each individual family s needs. Programs offer skill-building, individual and systems advocacy, peer/parent support groups, and opportunities for social interaction. Families of children, youth, young adults and adults are welcome. Several staff are Family Peer Advocates with lived experience. The FPA credential recognizes the importance of family-to-family support.

  7. Family Support, Advocacy & Education Advocacy provides information, referral, and advocacy to adults with mental illness and their families who often have aging parents or other family members. Depression/Bipolar Support Group for adults meets weekly (Monday evening) at 253 Mansion Street. Contact: Kate at 845-891-1760 or Janet at ext. 1325. EMERGE is for parents who have a psychiatric disability and school-aged children. It addresses the needs of parents who are struggling with mental illness while parenting a child. Family Support is for parents/caregivers of children with Serious Emotional Challenges; it offers peer/parent support groups, sibling support/education groups, and Family Advocacy. Family Peer Support Services provides supports for families caring for a child experiencing social, emotional, medical, developmental, substance abuse and/or behavioral health challenges. A recommendation by a licensed person of the healing arts and Medicaid eligibility are required. Contact Lynn Rogers at ext. 1343. Sibling Support provides recreation, education and support for children who have a sibling with a social/emotional/behavioral challenge. Groups meet twice per month. Contact Kat Weaver at ext. 1375 H.O.P.E. for Families is a peer-led support group for parents/caregivers of a child with a mental health diagnosis. Contact Lynn Rogers at ext. 1343 Incarcerated Youth Family Support is for those who have an incarcerated family member under the age of 21. Education about the juvenile justice system is provided. Contact Lynn Rogers at ext. 1343 Respite Programs offer parents/caregivers of children with special mental health needs the opportunity for respite. Activities include planned individual and group activities, summer camp scholarships, and Teen Challenge. Contact Julie Simpson at ext. 1324. CFTSS Psychosocial Rehabilitation is skill-building in social/interpersonal skills, daily living skills and community integration for those under 21 years of age; the person must be Medicaid eligible and a recommendation by a licensed person of the healing arts is required. Contact Julie Simpson at ext. 1324 Teen Challenge addresses challenges through weekly life skill curriculum meetings; vocational/educational mentoring for jobs and education; and community engagement involving community service projects.   8. Family Support, Advocacy & Education (contd) Parenting Classes such as Managing Defiant Behavior , Parenting Challenging Teens , and How to Talk So Kids and Teens Will Listen are offered at various times during the year. Parent Education and Custody Effectiveness is offered to parents who are separating/divorcing. Contact Marlene Taylor at ext. 1309. Parent and Caregiver Connect is an online support group for adults to discuss caregiving, parenting, loss, etc. Contact Marlene Taylor at ext. 1309 Info/Referral is provided for callers/visitors who are seeking local resources, private therapists, and need specific information about services. Call Janet Caruso at ext. 1325. Supported Education provides assistance to ACCES-VR referred students with a psychiatric/addiction illness as they attend college. On-going support and linkages with college resources is provided to help the student succeed. Services include an individual orientation/tour of campus, assistance with applications, financial aid forms and registration. Students must be stable in their recovery and have a therapist.   9. CASA, Family Visitation, and Compeer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) trains citizen-volunteers to be advocates in the judicial process for a child in or at risk of foster care, who experience abuse or neglect. Having a CASA as part of your Family Court proceedings guarantees that there s always going to be someone on the side of those who matter most---the children. A CASA volunteer provides Family Court judges with impartial information about the circumstances of the children involved. Referrals are through the Family Court judge only. Family Visitation Program is a coached-visitation model and supervised visitation, providing strength-based support for parents/caregivers visiting their children in placement. The coach engages with the family to assist the parent Referrals are from DCFS only. Contact: Desiree King, ext. 1323. COMPEER trains volunteers to match with adults receiving mental health services for weekly outings and activities. The relationship that develops helps build coping skills, making it easier to integrate into the community. Contact: Desiree King at ext. 1323.

  10. Home & Community Based Services HCBS specialists support clients moving forward with their goals---whether helping to finish or navigating their educational goals, employment goals or working on skills individuals may have but need help brushing up on. HCBS is for adults over the age of 21 who have Medicaid and have completed a Health and Recovery Plan (HARP) assessment. Services include: Habilitation - skills never acquired, such as cooking, grocery shopping, and organizational skills. Education assistance in navigating financial resources, assistance with the enrollment process, and limited transportation. Intensive Supported Employment Assistance with resume building, interviewing skills and limited transportation to interviews. Ongoing Supported Employment Provides job coaching and mediation between management and other employees. Prevocational Services Assists with the development of necessary skills to obtain employment.   11. CORE: Community Oriented Recovery Empowerment Services CORE specialists support clients moving forward with goals---coping skills, reducing isolation, trainings, and family support. Services include: Psychosocial Rehabilitation which assists an individual to improve their functional abilities to the greatest degree possible in settings where they live, work, learn and socialize. Family Support Training offers instruction, emotional support and skill building necessary to facilitate engagement and active participation of the family in the individual s recovery process. Empowerment Services which focus on recovery and resilience to promote skills for coping with and managing behavioral health symptoms while facilitating the use of community resources.   12. Peer Services What is a Peer? Peers have lived experience and special training to bring hope. Someone who promotes recovery---for either an addiction, mental illness or both. Helps navigate obstacles and barriers. Guides and mentors. Promotes multiple pathways to recovery. Promotes individual s strengths. Facilitates community connections. Supports a caseload of individuals. Peers serve as a Lifestyle Consultant, Friend or Companion, Advocate, Role Model, Motivator, Cheerleader, Truth Teller and Ally.   13. Vet2Vet Serves all veterans of all eras and their families w/o restriction as to discharge date, type of discharge or dependency status. Provides support groups, family services, socialization and case management to veterans of Dutchess County. HERO program provides housing support for veterans who qualify through service time and discharge type. We can provide emergency hotel placement, security deposits, and support with rental arrears. VET-TAP program provides employment support in the form of resume writing, certification courses, security guard courses, and connection to local employers. SSG Fox SPGP is a Federal suicide-prevention program providing a connection to VA services, and a holistic approach to suicide prevention including art, music, and equine therapy, mindfulness, meditation, and reiki. Funded by the Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer Service Project All staff are veterans with years of experience helping others heal. New location, as of January 2023, is at 1335 Rt. 44, Pleasant Valley.
