Division 2 Middleton Cheney Reserves 8 Launton Sports Reserves 1 Saturday, 08 September 2012 Scott Finch (3), Tristan Salt (3), Josh Hart, Andrew Boyles Launton: Matthew Hunt Cheney got their Division Two campaign off to an emphatic start with an excellent win over visitors Launton Sports. The home side got off to a good start, enjoying a lot of the early possession without being able to turn it in to goals. Scott Finch changed that with two goals in quick succession midway through the half, and then Tristan Salt finished off a good passing move following Josh Hart s clever head down. Finch completed a first half hat-trick with an excellent header just before half time to give Cheney a comfortable advantage at the interval. Salt also went on to complete his treble in the second half and further goals from Hart and Andrew Boyles completed the scoring and secure the first three points of the season. Launton grabbed a late consolation with perhaps the best goal of the game, a sweet half volley from the edge of the area flying past home keeper Chris Coles before he had a chance to move.

Division 2 Middleton Cheney Reserves 6 Freeland Reserves 1 Saturday, 03 November 2012 MC: Luke Finch (4), Josh Hart (2) Freeland: Jamie Perkin Cheney came away from this match with a well-earned victory, in a game where the score didn t reflect the closeness of the two teams for much of the match. The home team started stronger with the twin strike force of Luke Finch and Jack Taylor causing the visiting defence numerous problems as they struggled to handle their pace and strength. Finch was rewarded for his hard work with a goal mid-way through the half and a second from Josh Hart gave Cheney a comfortable advantage at the break. Freeland came out in the second half with a different attitude and dominated the first quarter of an hour, scoring one goal to reduce the arrears and coming very close to leveling the score, only a finger-tip save from keeper Kevin Coles keeping them out. However Cheney found their way again, and with Stuart White dominating the midfield battle and Ed Somerton and Connor Clyne superb in the centre of defence for the last quarter of the match, Finch scored a further three goals and Hart grabbed a second to give the home side the three points.

Division 2 Middleton Cheney Reserves 2 Garsington Reserves 2 Saturday, 17 November 2012 MC: Stuart White (2) Gars: Don Fraser, Dan Smith Honours finished even after this bruising top of the table clash. The visitors took the lead mid- way through the first half from the penalty spot after Ed Somerton was judged to have pushed his opponent in the back in the area. Don Fraser stepped up to plant the ball firmly in the corner of the net. Cheney equalized just before half time with Stuart White calmly converting a spot kick at the other end to bring things level at the break. The home side made the most of some early pressure in the second half and took the lead from a White free kick but Garsington battled back and equalized from Dan Smith to ensure that the points were shared.

Division 2 Middleton Cheney Reserves 4 Adderbury Park Reserves 1 Saturday, 24 November 2012 MC: Nick Bracey (2), Josh Hart, Tristan Salt Add: Josh Danes Cheney recorded a good victory over local rivals Adderbury in this game played in very difficult conditions. Nick Bracey opened the scoring for the home side against the run of play but Adderbury were soon level from a soaring header from a corner by Josh Danes. However Bracey struck again just before half time to give Cheney the lead at the break. Middleton then proceeded to dominate the second half and further goals from Josh Hart and Tristan Salt secured the three points.

Division 2 Adderbury Park Reserves 0 Middleton Cheney Reserves 1 Saturday, 05 January 2013 MC: Steven Twynham Middleton Cheney took all three points in this Division 2 clash, kindly played at Middleton Cheney s ground due to Adderbury Park s waterlogged pitch. Adderbury created several good scoring chances early in the game, but did not manage to convert them. Middleton Cheney was awarded a free kick out wide after 35 minutes play, and Steven Twynham netted after a deflection off of an Adderbury player. Adderbury piled on the pressure to try to get the equaliser, but created few chances, with Middleton Cheney looking dangerous on the counter-attack, but there were no further goals.

Ivor Gubbins Cup Round 1 Stonesfield Reserves 4 Saturday, 12 January 2013 Middleton Cheney Reserves 1 Stonesfield: Ryan Hunt, Lewis Stayte, Nick Clarke, Jay Brown Midd Cheney: Tommy Owen Tommy Owen Middleton Cheney arrived at Stonesfield the favourites but thats was soon knocked in the head when Stonesfield won all the personal battles and really made their chances count. Stonesfield took the lead when Ryan Hunt scored a half volley from 25 yards that dipped over under the bar but over the keeper to make it 1.0, Lewis Stayte made it 2.0 ten mins later when he seized on a loose ball to slot nicely past the keeper. The hosts then had 2 penalty appeals waved away and then it went from bad to worse by the referee when he awarded a penalty against Stonesfield, however Hart missed the penalty which seemed only fair after such a poor decision! Tommy Owen did claw a goal back ten minutes before the interval and the Nick Clarke scored minutes after to make it 3.1 at the break. The second half didnt really materialise into any sort of game with the travellers going down to 9 through injuries with Stonesfield having all the play seemed quite content on sitting on the lead, however Sub Simon Baker didnt know when to give up and chased a lost cause and put in a great delivery for Jay Brown to get his bald head onto the cross to make it 4 and in to the next round.

Division 2 Launton Sports Reserves 2 Middleton Cheney Reserves 4 Saturday, 23 February 2013 Launton: Nick Neal (2) MC: Middleton Cheney scorers not supplied Middleton Cheney took early control of this game going 2-0 up. Nick Neal pulled a goal back for Launton before Cheney made it 3-1. Nick Neal again scored to drag Launton to within a point but it was Cheney who scored late on to make the final score 4-2.

Division 2 Freeland Reserves 2 Middleton Cheney Reserves 4 Saturday, 30 March 2013 Freeland: Ben Halsey, Ben Jones MC: Josh Hart, Steve Twynham (2) Jack Walker Goals from Josh Hart, Steve Twynham (2) and Jack Walker gave Middleton Cheney a 4-2 victory in a closely contested game at Freeland this Saturday, Ben Halsey and Ben Jones replied for the hosts. Middleton Cheney went 1 up early doors with a well taken goal past the onrushing Simon Shorter in goal. Freeland hit back when Halsey nodded in from close range after a good Freeland move. Cheney then took the lead again through a deflected strike which deceived the Freeland keeper after a great turn. Another goal followed soon after from a free header in the Freeland box. Freeland came back again with another sweeping move which Jones bundled home. The second half saw chances come and go at either end with Freeland missing the better ones - Halsey scooping the ball over from a yard out being the best of them. As Freeland applied some frantic last minute pressure Middleton Cheney broke and sealed the points with a classic counter attacking goal.

Division 2 Middleton Cheney Reserves 3 OUP Reserves 2 Saturday, 06 April 2013 MC: Matthew Ward , Jack Walker(2) OUP: Adam Leggett , Adam Walsh Cheney ended up with the three points from this game but were made to fight all the way to the final whistle by a resilient OUP side. The visitors opened the scoring through Adam Leggett mid-way through the first half and held on to the lead until the break. Within a minute of the restart, Jack Walker used his strength and pace to bring the scores equal and then the same player scored again ten minutes later to put the home side in front. Matty Ward then scored a third to put Cheney in a comfortable position but OUP never gave up and Adam Walsh scored an excellent header in the closing stages to give the visitors hope of grabbing a draw, but the home side held on to secure the victory.

Division 2 Yarnton Reserves 2 Middleton Cheney Reserves 6 Saturday, 13 April 2013 Yarnton: Michael Trafford, Matthew Robertson. Middleton Cheney: Ed Sommerton, Tom Mitcher, Steve Twynham, Josh Hart, Jack Walker (2). Yarnton hosted 3rd placed side Middleton Cheney this week. Conditions were terrible with heavy rain overnight making for a very wet surface. Yarnton who were on a high from last week s win raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Michael Trafford and a penalty from Matty Robertson. For 25 minutes Yarnton were the better team but that was as good as it got. Cheney showed why they were up near the top of the league as they changed up a gear and got back into the game. At half time Cheney were on top and had not only levelled but put themselves 3-2 up! This shook Yarnton and they were unable to recover. Getting caught chasing the game Yarnton conceded 3 more goals in the second half and the game ended 6-2 much to Middleton Cheney's delight.

With a strong wind against them Bletch defended for the first half and the game remained scoreless at half-time. After the break Bletch took control and full back Bekele Tuckek in a cross for his first goal of the season. Williams put the division leaders further ahead, and although Mid. Cheney rallied the away side were comfortable winners, the rematch on Sat should decide the champions of div.2.
