  1. Mindset

  2. Mindset The most important part of a player's body is above his shoulders. (Ty Cobb) The only pressure that I m under is the pressure I put on myself. (Mark Messier) If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right (Henry Ford) Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional. (Roger Crawford)

  3. Mindset - defined Mindset is defined as a set of beliefs or way of thinking that determines someone s behaviour, outlook and mental attitude that impacts the outcome of someone s endeavours.

  4. Mindset what holds you back? You see nothing but negatives You tend to blame others You resist the truth Your You worry about everything expectations are stressing you out You want a pain free life You re never satisfied with what you have You catch yourself living in the past It s been a while since you learned something new

  5. Law of Dominant Thought What is running through your mind Negative, positive or neutral thoughts. It is important to control your thoughts because your actions tend to follow your thoughts. Example: If a basketball player is thinking, don t miss this free throw , their dominant thought is don t miss and they are more likely to miss the free throw.

  6. The Inner Game of Tennis Tim Gallwey The Inner Game of Tennis revolutionised coaching. There is always an inner game being played in your mind no matter what outer game you are playing. How aware you are of this game can make the difference between success and failure in the outer game. Focus your mind to overcome nervousness, self-doubt and distractions. Find the state of relaxed concentration that allows you to play at your best. The opponent within s one own head is more formidable than the one on the other side of the net. Master your game from the inside out.

  7. Mental Toughness Consider the following questions: How committed are you to achieving your goals? Are you able to remain focused on the task at hand in order to achieve the goal that you have set yourself for the future? How in control do you feel of what s going on around you? How in control of your emotions are you? Do you see competition as an opportunity to show people what you can do? Or do you see it as a threat and try to avoid it? If something goes wrong do you think I can still do this ? Are you prepared to assert yourself to others?

  8. Red Head, Blue Head Loose and expressive In the moment Desperate Results orientated Blue Head Anxious and aggressive Red Head Accurate and on track Calm and clear Tight and inhibited Over- compensating

  9. Turn Red Head into Blue Head Staying in the calm zone rather than going into the chaotic zone. Red Head is the negative state, when you are heated, overwhelmed, and tense. Blue Head is the precise opposite: the cool, controlled, pattern-seeing state, when you retain your awareness and your decision-making power. Determine where you focus your attention and ensure it is where you can actually do something to start changing it. Use an anchor or mantra to ground yourself. Make a choice to gain clarity, and start concentrating on task and begin performing to your best.

  10. Emulating a Person Imagine someone you admire and respect (e.g. a hero, a relative, a friend, a teacher) has the same problem, and consider what he or she would do. What would Muhammad Ali do in this situation?

  11. Anxiety reappraisal Interpretation of stressful events is more important than the events themselves. Anxiety and excitement are both aroused emotions. The only real difference between these two states is our story about them. Tell yourself that you feel excited whenever you feel nervous. For example, if you worry about public speaking and catch yourself thinking about everything that could go wrong, flip the switch. Instead, say the following things out loud: I m excited. or I like testing myself and proving to others that I can do something.
