  1. Mark 2:1-12 Jesus Heal The Paralyzed Man

  2. Jesus is back in Capernaum

  3. And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; Mark 2:1 Jesus came back to Capernaum after preaching throughout the region of Galilee.

  4. What has Jesus already done in Capernaum? Taught in the synagogue and healed a man possessed with an unclean spirit. Healed Peter s mother-in-law.

  5. Healed many sick with different diseases at the house of Peter. Cast out many devils. All the city was gathered together at the door of Peter s house.

  6. Jesus comes back to Capernaum and its made known that he was in the house. Some versions reference this to his home. Some say this could be Peter s house.

  7. The crowd was gathered together again at the house. So many people gathered together that there was no more room, not even in the doorway, CSB Version Mark 1:2

  8. Jesus Preached the Word

  9. The crowd was gathered to see more miracles. They were hoping to have the same experience as the last time Jesus was in Capernaum.

  10. Jesus preached the word unto them. Jesus preached the message , word (Greek word logos) This consisted of the Old Testament, and to repent and believe the gospel. He preached of the coming Kingdom of God.

  11. Preaching was what Jesus came to do. Mark 1:38 Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. We need to hear the preaching of the gospel.

  12. Four Men Brought Their Friend To Jesus

  13. The four men acted on their friends need for healing. When we realize someones need or the need of others, how do you respond? We should respond in action with faith.

  14. They took their friend that could not walk to Jesus for healing. We need to bring our friend and those in need to Jesus. Meet their need and show them Jesus.

  15. They were determined to get their friend to Jesus. The crowd did not stop them. They found another way. It required work and effort.

  16. Most homes in that day had a staircase or ladder to the roof. The roof was made up of wood beams crossed laid with branches and packed with grass, mud, and clay.

  17. They broke up the roof and lowered down the bed with the paralyzed man to where Jesus was.

  18. We need to be determined to bring lost friends, family, and people to Jesus. No matter the obstacles or challenges. No matter the work or effort it requires. We should not be deterred to see and meet the needs of others.

  19. Jesus Forgives and Heals

  20. Jesus saw their faith. The faith of the four friends and the paralyzed man. We are saved by grace through faith.

  21. Son, thy sins be forgiven. Jesus forgave this man s sin. He healed the spiritual part of this man first. Jesus extends to a paralyzed sinner God s full and complete pardon of sin.

  22. Only God can forgive sins. Jesus is the Son of God. He is Divine, He is God.

  23. In Jewish thinking even the Messiah could not forgive sins! God and God alone has that authority and right. Those first century Jews knew exactly what was going on: if He can forgive sins, then Jesus is God. Exalting Jesus in Mark Commentary

  24. Another proof of his deity: He knew their thoughts. The omniscience of Christ.

  25. The Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins Jesus refers to himself as the Son of man. Son of man is found 81 times in the gospels.

  26. Jesus is the Son of man serving. Jesus is the Son of man suffering. Jesus is the Son of man who is coming in glory.

  27. Daniel 7:13-14 I saw in the night visions, and behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

  28. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

  29. Jesus physically heals the paralyzed man. All that seen this miracle, were amazed and glorified God. We have never seen anything like this!
