Matthew 14 v 22 - 33 22Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.23And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,24but the boat by this time was a long way[b]from the land,[c]beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them.25And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea.26But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, It is a ghost! and they cried out in fear.27But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.
28And Peter answered him, Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water. 29He said, Come. So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.30But when he saw the wind,[d]he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, Lord, save me. 31Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt? 32And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.33And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, Truly you are the Son of God.
Matthew 10 v 34 - 37 34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.35For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.36And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.37Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.38And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Hebrews 2 v 9 9But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honour because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
Luke 22 v 31 - 34 31 Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you,[d]that he might sift you like wheat,32but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers. 33Peter[e]said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death. 34Jesus[f]said, I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.
John 6 v 35 Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
Luke 6 v 46 - 49 46 Why do you call me Lord, Lord , and not do what I tell you?47Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like:48he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.[c]49But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.
Matthew 11 v 25 - 30 25At that time Jesus declared, I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children;26yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.[g] 27All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.28Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 17 v 1-8 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.2And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.3And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.4And Peter said to Jesus, Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah. 5He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, This is my beloved Son,[a]with whom I am well pleased; listen to him. 6When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified.7But Jesus came and touched them, saying, Rise, and have no fear. 8And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
