  4. Challenges for donors to help NSOs and other data producers mobilising domestic resources for statistical development Donors have a mandate to disburse funds. Sustainability of investments in statistics. The national Governments need to be involved to ensure continuity. Underdeveloped statistical systems limits the statistical countries in countries. Absorptive capacity of National Statistical Systems and growth potential. 4

Challenges for donors to help NSOs and other data producers mobilising domestic resources for statistical development Provision of technical advisors assists in solving problems but is this method sustainable? Staff retention is a major concern and limits the sustainability of statistical projects. Lack of autonomy of National Statistical Offices creates difficulties for funding. Donors don t put high priority in helping countries to mobilize domestic resources. 5

Capacity building in areas of revenue generation. Request that Government funding form part of any intervention in countries. Focus on funding dissemination activities of National Statistical Offices. Encourage regional strategies and interventions. 6
